About Me

8/14/08: Hey everyone! This is my drumming page, check the first 4 friends on my top list for my music projects. I am on hiatus from playing music right now because I have a shitload of things going on in my life and don't have any time right now, but I will revisit playing again sometime in the future. The VIRGIN SCARS EP has been on slow and stop due to so many changes in me and Danny's life, but we did get 3 mixes completed and just 2 more to go which we will finish very soon. Once the last 2 are done, then the EP will be pressed. I'll keep you all posted on the progress. Thanks and CHEERS!!!!---sh ____________________________________________________________ MY BIO: Scott Harris, drummer/dj/and remixer has been working in the music industry (playing music as an artist and working daytime at labels) for many years. I'm also a member of ASCAP as a writer/publisher. My dad was a musician and on his demos playing drums was the great Bernard Purdie. Hearing those sort of breaks from six months of age have been branded deep into my subconscious. I guess my style can be traced back to the patterns of breakbeat, funk and psych music of the late 60’s early 70’s. I play a minimalist drumkit ala my late 60's and early 70's heroes with a single kick pedal. As far as music I like, it's extremely diverse and widespread. Although I mostly listen to metal related genres, hard rock/classic rock and rockabilly these days, the genres I listen to include 50's rockabilly/rock, blues, jazz, motown, R&B from the 60's and 70's, AOR, some old country, fusion, psych, funk, progressive rock, southern rock, hard/classic rock, acid rock, punk/hardcore, old goth/post punk, new wave, 70's disco, AM Gold 70's pop, 70's glitter/glam, electronica/big beat/trance/ambient, old school hip hop and most metal genres like NWOBHM, black, death, thrash, hair, funeral doom, and stoner, etc. I absolutely can't stand EMO bands and most music that's been popular for the last 10 years...even new bands that are metal unless they are doing it old school I'm not into; i.e. 99.9% of those MTV2 Headbangers Ball bands. My past bands include LORRY DOLL AND THE WILD ONES (1989), TOY BANDITS (1989-1990), THE VIBES (1992-1993), EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES (1992), VASARIA (1996-1999...I played drums on the VASARIA DEBUT ON CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS), ANGEL 13 (1999-2005), XRAYGUN (2005-present) and now VIRGIN SCARS (2007 forward). As a dj, I was a resident at Bowlmor Lanes for 4 years, spun at the old Coney Island High in NYC and also private parties. If you are interested in me laying drum tracks, playing live, or spinning, please contact me at [email protected]. CHEERS!!!!!
