SPACE METAL FROM SOUTH OF CHICAGO

About Me

Hailing from the South suburbs of Chicago, founding members Andre Almaraz, Eric Ondo and Bill Sargis began jamming together in early 2001. After three years of woodshedding and a revolving door of bassists, longtime friend Rich Cygan agreed to play bass on their self-financed debut EP. In the summer of 2004 they entered Chicago's own Volume Studios, enlisting Sanford Parker of Minsk/Buried At Sea for engineering and mixing; mastering was performed by Alan Douches at West West Side Music/Deko Music in Tenafly, New Jersey. Released in October 2004, "Couldron" recieved rave reviews both online and in print; The Illinois Entertainer and The Chicago Reader praised the album, and Metal Maniacs featured the band in a Fast Forward article. The first track "Dune" appeared on the Daredevil Records compilation "Burn The Street Volume IV" alongside genre heavyweights Mastodon, Entombed, Alabama Thunderpussy and more.
March 2005 saw Tariq Ali take over bass duties, allowing Cygan to step down and start a family. February 2006 Couldron traveled to The Ensomberoom studio in Fort Wayne, Indiana to record their second DIY release with Geoff Montgomery of Fog/Hordes of the Lunar Eclipse manning the board. Couldron's second self-financed EP "Four Winds" was released in June 2006, once again to praise both online and in print. Couldron continues to perform anywhere and everywhere they can, playing alongside established groups 3 Inches of Blood (Roadrunner Records), Yakuza (Prosthetic Records), Trouble (American/Century Media Records), Lair of the Minotaur (Southern Lord Records), American Heritage (Translation Loss Records) as well as local faves DeepSpacePilots, Plague Bringer (Seventh Rule/HeWhoCorrupts Records), Raise The Red Lantern (Seventh Rule/Witch Trial Records), Salt of the Earth and Trifog among others.
