Romford's Finest

About Me

Polanski so far---What do you get when you take the sprightly inspiration of indie power pop, the influence of archetypal English bands such as The Kinks, The Jam and The Smiths and the ambition to escape a frustrating 9 to 5 existence in a quiet suburban town? You're looking at the brilliant and ever-progressing Polanski- Andy Reid (Vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica, melodica) Nick Saunders ( lead guitar, bass, backing vocals) Pietro Johnson (Bass, Lead guitar, backing vocals) And Craig Long (Drums, percussion, piano)Taking their name from the infamous Hollwood film director known for controversy, but hold on to your seatbelts, the band come packed with the sort of tunes - new and old - that make you want to jack in your job, drive to a British beach and dance on the sand, or go to the greasy spoon for egg and chips, twice! It all started when the band formed in 2003, followed by appearances in summer festivals, some may say, one of the best debut gig, this country has ever seen, - 'She comes home' - which wore the band's musical inspirations on its sleeve, but stamped all over it with the unique sound that only Polanski could ever Produce. Now the boys were attracting the sort of attention and fans they richly deserved, with their gigs populated by the passionate and ever present groupie gang.In 2006, The lads took stock of their success and recorded the soulful and honest Mushakaka Demo and plugged it crazy, on myspace and to the usual musical universe mogals and ledends.Still brushed with the influence of punk, indie' alternative and ska, and sounding like a breath of fresh air - with the ubiquitous stomp of 'Unfair share' which was a big thank you to the fans to keep it in the set and the new sound added with the unique relationship between the band, the dedicated fans and the Press inclueding Mark @ The Recorder, Ian P and the ever present Ringo. After a successful tour it all went a bit quiet for a while, writing new songs and trying to evolve their sound - then everything went a bit mental! True Fans can tell you now, like the moment Kurt Cobain died or J.F. Kennedy was shot, what they were doing, and what they were wearing the day the boys played the Musictec Festival, in the pouring rain, on a dodgy little stage, with the walls blowing in and still pulled out the set of a lifetime, Jam cover and all the new material blow the audience away, followed by the support slot with The Others, which with a combination of the line up, scratched they name on the hearts of the gigs 4,000 strong revellers. The publicity generated meant that the Polanski had finally found the audience they craved, and straight after the gig was over we have been actively pushing for a deal!Ladies and gentlemen, we are poised for more greatness - and wait with bated breath - on news of a tour, new songs, deal and more tantra-mesmric tunes from the wonder that is Polanski.
