Family Tree

Gonna kick it root down.

About Me

I am you, you are me and together we are The Family Tree. I am a collection of many good people who who believe in themselves and believe in me. I have a few roots and many branches, and am always looking to grow new ones. The Family Tree can be found all over and chances are that you know somebody from Family Tree. A certain DJ Elation planted my seed years ago, and I've been growing ever since.I have good variety of Dj's who always represent me to the fullest. My Djs hold down Hip Hop, House, Drum and Bass, and Breaks(the greatest style of them all). You will be able to meet these djs in the next few weeks as they get their biographies together, ready for you to read. Stay tuned!Biography 1 Elation- The one who planted the Family Tree seedI'm an awesome Breakbeat DJ, just ask anybody who has seen me. I say this out of confidence, not egoism. I have been playing for well over 10 years, and don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I never have doubted myself because my passion for what I do won't let me. Also having the world's most supportive and loving girlfriend helps a lot. I will never sacrifice myself or the music I play to play out or gain anything. I say fuck all of you egotistical people out there who expect people to play your pointless little games in order to make you feel better about yourself. I am true to myself, my Family Tree Crew, and my music, so if you aren't pickin' up what I'm puttin' down, then it sucks for you. My quest for ears has taken my to Maryland, D.C. , Virginia, and Pennsylvania. I have played at all kinds of clubs including: Paradox, The Royal, 1722, Club Midnite, Tracks, New Energy, The Edge, Kobe, The Depot, Plush, 1614 Lounge, Sky Lounge, Orpheus, Sky Lab and Bar Nun to mention a few. I am always looking to play out for anybody who wants to hear. All I ever ask is that you let me play what moves and touches my soul, and I promise you will appreciate the passion I have for playing for people with an open mind and rythm in their soul.My DJ name, Elation, came from A Tribe Called Quest song called "Scenerio" off "Low End Theory." I remember going to a famous Baltimore party back in the 90's called "Fever." I f you were there, put a smile on you face right now, and if you weren't, put a frown on your face because you missed a beautiful experience. I met many different people at Fever, but no matter how different all those people were, we all came together for whatever reason for the night. The dictionary (www.dictionary.com) definition of Elation is a feeling or state of great joy or pride; exultant gladness; high spirits. I always felt good dancing and listening to what these magical people called DJs played. It was only a short time after closely observing the effects people like Scott Henry, Charles Feelgood, and countless others had on the dancing community, that I myself wanted to have the same effect on people........... A DJ is born. All I want to do as a DJ is spread some elation with anybody who wants or needs some, so holler at a breakbeat maniac!Biography 2- DJ Infamuz This is DJ Infamuz from the beginning. I was born in Florida, and raised in South Carolina. Growing up around cousins who break dance and rap is where I first realized my love for hip hop. At the young age of 14, bought my first set of turntables and began making mixed tapes. This created a buzz and built a constant flow of work thoughout my hometown. It was at my first gig, a teen club called New Horizons, where my style was noticed as being different from all the other Dj’s in the area. From there I started performing in numerous venues such as: CLUB TRACY'S,CLUB OASIS, BJ'S LOUNGE, STAR BRANCH LOUNGE, ROYAL PALACE,and SIGNATURES just to name a few.I later moved to Maryland where I met another Dj, and a good friend named Elation. By always supporting Family Tree functions, and demonstrating my own skills, I became a member of this crew of people who have a similar love for music. I , and will always , represent Family Tree to the fullest. Being able to control a crowd by the records I play is a feeling that I will always remain humble to. With this being said, I know there will always be people who doubt my skills and crew. My resonse to this is “bullshit falls on deaf ears.” I have been doing this for years and see no end in sight. My goal is to continue doing what I love, spinning reggae and r&b , but staying true to my first love of Hip Hop.Birth Name: Duane Owens EMail: [email protected] Myspace: www.myspace.com/djinfamuzBio 3- James MomentumMy name is James Momentum. I am a funky House specialist, but have been known to rock Breaks and some Trip Hop once and a while. I've been playing for over 10 years, and I'm still going strong. I've played at some of the same parties with my friend, Elation. I am the newest member of the Family Tree Crew, and am glad to be part of such a good group of people. I love meeting new people and spinnin' records. As the newest member of Family Tree, my plan is to put some more funk into my crew as I play House music all night long! I've played in Maryland, D.C. and Pennsylvania. Some of the places I've played at are: The Spot, The Paradox, Fell's Point Station, 13th Floor, Federal Hill Lounge, Plush, University of Maryland, and Kasbah. Keep your ears and ears open, as you can catch me near you soon!http://www.myspace.com/jamesmomentumBiography 4 - CESAR HIPONIA When people ask me for my DJ name, I tell them I don’t have one. I need no alter ego because, as with my music and any other aspect of my life, what you see is what you get. I go by Cesar Hiponia, my birth name, as well as my father’s and grandfather’s name before me. Three generations, three legacies, all of which I am proud to honor by my thoughts, words, and actions. I have known Elation for an eternity. Hence, I was part of Family Tree before Family Tree was even conceived. Again, yet another legacy that I am proud to be a part of. I have been throwin’ down records for a good bit of 12 years. I have played at Club Midnite, The Zodiac, Plush, The Depot, The Edge, Kobe, Spy Club, The Royal, Joe Squared, Skylounge, Club 1722, and a wide array of underground warehouse parties in the Baltimore/D.C. area. Different places, countless faces, all amounting to the same thing: pure, unadulterated, honest to goodness LOVE for music. I am old skool. I remember when there was only “techno”. In time I have seen many sub-genres evolve from this distinction, but the one I feel the most is Funky Breaks. It fills every fiber of my being with a soulful euphoria unlike any I have ever felt. It uplifts me to a state where I almost feel like I am flying, suspended above the dance floor, when every move I make is rhythmically flawless. In essence, a big part of why I became a DJ is my desire to share this blessing with others. Something this wonderful cannot be kept a secret. So, I am here to spread the wealth, and, more importantly, to spread the LOVE. There are a ton of good DJ’s out there. I think what makes a “great” DJ is the ability to tell a story and to establish a relationship with the crowd to make them believe that story, even for just a brief moment. It’s not about me and my records. I am just a medium for the message. It’s about us and the experience we share when great music abounds. Keep your ears and minds open, because wherever I play, you are guaranteed to be rocked down and funked up, and I right along with youBooking info: email: [email protected] www.myspace.com/rogue jedi
