About Me

Nuwabu 1 Thru 4 are mostly for entertainment value.
Nuwabu 5 & 6 are created for experiences of "Deep Listening" and Contemplation.
Music is good for dancing and audio enjoyment, but it also goes way beyond entertainment.

Music has been shown to affect our thoughts, hormones, intelligence, cellular activity, alter brain-waves, increase or hinder scores on IQ tests and general mind/body health. Music is infinitely diverse, yet we hear such a narrow spectrum thru the normal channels. There are endless possibilities of musical expression and unexplored potential effects on the mind/body of the listener. These are tracks immensely educational if you listen closely ... whether it be in a meditative trance or a psychedelic-enhanced state of consciousness. With the world tuned-out and music as the only focus, these sounds become doorways to inner dimensions of being and knowing (Musical Gnosis)
Track 1Re-Tune Your Ears! Exotic & Rare Music with Unfamiliar Tones, Pitches, Rhythms and Harmonics 1) "Music of Lombok" - Google it ... short sample, grooves worthy of sampling
2) Raag vocals of South India - female singer with amazing accuracy and intensity
3) "Shrines of Ajmer and Mundra" Google it ... bluesy indian horns and percussion
4) "Lalgudi G J R Krishnan" and another person on intricate duo indian fiddle raga playing.
5) Delicate and smooth - South Indian Raag Singing - "Purnima"
6) Sitar - Nikhil Banerjee - With all due respect, this guy kicks ravi-shankar's ass
7) Bhapang Solo - Jahur Khan (a one stringed, fretless, plucked insturment controlled my hand-tension. ... listen to the multiple layers of diverse sounds he makes on Just ONE STRING. There are NO Limitations)
8) "Yoruba Drums from Benin-West Africa" - great ever-changing rhythm here! All grooves flowing into one
9) Jews Harp played like Jimi Hendrix! Shamanic trance stuff from indonesia? or Tuvan Russia?
10) Burkina Faso - Rhythms of the Grasslands - weird super fast music played on a plucked insturment.
11) "Mark Feldman & Sylvie Courvoisier" Violin madness to baroque - well orchestrated.
12) Unknown Violin raga by a fantastic player ... the higher tones are nearly ultrasonic
Track 2John Coltrane 1 Creation Phase This sequence plays some of my favorite Coltrane solos in chronological order ... showing the expansion of time and free exploration of sound.
Spiritual Communication is his musical and personal evolution. 1) Trumpeter Chris Carter mentions John Coltrane describing the mysterious 'Cosmic Sound' he heard that sent him on a musical quest of legendary status. Coltrane's influence on all forms of music in all countries is proof enough of the Universality of the sound he heard in his heart.
2) Coltrane with Miles Davis 1961 - exploring new sounds for the tenor
3) Coltrane with Ornette Coleman's band 1961 - carefully mutated bebop
4) Coltrane 'Deliah' on Soprano, Europe 1962 - very elegant and classical
5) 'Impressions' in Germany 1963 - heavy tone - amazing sheets of sound
6) 'My Favorite Things' Newport Jazz 1963 -a Joyous sound on this take - celebrational! (sorry it's mono)
7) 'My Favorite Things', France 1965 - super burningly intense soprano sound and laser-like accuracy. Totally different musical and mental zone than the one from 1963 right before it.
8) 'Song of Praise' - NYC 1965 - GREAT rare example of Coltrane 'Speaking in Tongues' thru the sax, HINT: it's like a voice if you listen with the 'inner ear', avalanches of meaning pour out.
9) 'Creation' - Coltrane in fully FREE form! more 'Speaking in Tongues' thru the sax like a person on Holy FIRE. Musical Prophecy!
Track 3 Music for DJs, Sampling, Looping and Listening! Music with Unique Tones, Dynamics, Rhythms and Harmonics
1) "Emil Richards" - Google it ... grooves worthy of sampling or looping
2) Ketjak: The Ramayana Monkey Chant - amazing group syncopated chanting ceremony in indonesia?
3) Yourba Drums from Benin West Africa
4) Unknown African Music- Nice bluesy groove on an African gourd banjo. Good samples
5) Aborigional Music- "Rain Dreaming Ceremony" this is some weird sounding stuff ... use it!
5) 1950s Champaigne Music - Funny stuff for lounge-type hip-hop samples
6) Fulbe_Cowherders (Burkina_Faso) Demonstration_of_the_Daahi cowherding chant
7) Funky Band - unknown, phat funky New Orleans flavored grooves, good horn-section, many possibilities
8) Pharoah Sanders - another masterful, intense and soul filled sax. Song for peace from the 70s
9) All Woman Kazoo Orchestra - "Over the Rainbow" private tape found at goodwill - wild shit!
10) Ra Arkestra - "A Song for the Sun" - great post Ra sounds from the arkestra
11) BACH on MOOG Synthesizer - from one of those 70s Moog albums
11) "Downtown" played on SITAR, with STRINGS!!! plus instant chowmein & hottt slide guitar
Physical, Mental, Psyhcological, Cellular, Social & Spiritual healing with Music Music physically alters the body/mind on all physiological levels, such as metabolism, heart rate, hormonal balance, endorphins, neural growth, brainwave synchrony ..etcTherefore music is literally a way of sharing the inner physical, cellular and mental processes that keep us healthy (or sick) thru vibrational entrainment (sympathetic transfer of motion). Here is a diagram from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the resonant vibrational frequencies of the human body. Sounds or music at these frequencies will resonante in the body-areas illustrated. This chart is for preventing organic damage when using heavy machinery ... but it can also be applied to using sound and vibration to heal or adjust the body/mind.
