"Ring the bells that still can ring/ Forget your perfect offering/ There is a crack in everything/ That's how the light gets in" -- Leonard Cohen
I live in Nashville where I'm raising my 14 yr old son. (My 22 yr old daughter has been living with us for a year now.) We practice what some might call worldshooling. Not just homeschooling where we'd bring the structured, standardized time-table of classist, factory-school home but child-led learning where all of life is an opportunity for learning and discovery. For us, it is a more compassionate way to nurture the innate desire to learn. You should be able to glean some obvious stuff about me from the tons of typing in the sidebars. Ask if you want to know more.
Awakening to the Master Within
The greatest achievement is selflessness.
The greatest worth is self-mastery.
The greatest quality is seeking to serve others.
The greatest precept is continual awareness.
The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything.
The greatest action is not conforming with the worlds ways.
The greatest magic is transmuting the passions.
The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind.
The greatest patience is humility.
The greatest effort is not concerned with results.
The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go.
The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.
-- Atisha (11th century Tibetan Buddhist master)
