My Interests

Since I am the mom to 9 kids you can probably guess my main interests would be family and children. Since several of our children have disabilities, I have decided to help spread awareness in the areas that have entered our lives. Some of those disabilities are Autism Spectrum Disorders, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, ADHD, FAS/FAE, Mental Impairment, Epilepsy, Bipolar, Dyslexia, Diabetes and cancer. It is up to me to make sure my children get the best education possible so I am a strong and determined advocate for all of them. IEP meetings have become very common and actually easy for me over the past few years.

I also spread awareness in other areas to help Prevent Child Abuse, Against Drunk Driving, Elderly Abuse, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and others.

Our daughter Amanda grew up with learning how to live with Dyslexia. It wasn't easy for her, but she overcame many obstacles in her young life.

Our son Samuel has a message for pregnant mothers....

Our Son Randall was diagnosed at an early age with "a phsycotic condition" and later diagnosed with Bipolar, ADHD, and recently Epilepsy.

He wants others to know it is hard to live with these conditions and it takes patience to deal with what comes with them.

..

Demetrius (D.J.) has only been diagnosed so far with Learning Disabilities and ADHD. He seems to have more problems though...possibly bipolar and/or Asperger's syndrome.

Our youngest son Damarion has Autism, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Mental Impairment, Athsma and Allergies.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH DAMARION'S FIGHT WITH AUTISM....

OF COURSE WE SUPPORT ADOPTION....over half of our family is adopted. So many children in the world need a place to call HOME, they need a FOREVER FAMILY and they need, want and deserve nurturing and unconditional love.

CHILD ABUSE IS VERY MUCH ON THE RISE. Child abuse is reported on an average of every 10 seconds and three children die every day as a result of such abuse.

Now, to tell you a little more about me....

I grew up a Military Brat as my dad was in the Air Force. We got to travel a lot which has it's ups and downs....as it was nice to see different places, but I missed living near our family and hated saying "goodbye" to my friends.

I am the 2nd oldest of 6 children. I have 2 sisters; Shirlene who passed at the age of 15 in a car accident, and Rosalind who passed away at the age of 40 due to diabetes complications. I have 3 brothers; Glenn who lives in KY, Brian who lives in IL, and my youngest brother Jeffrey who passed away at 19 in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army.

As you can tell, my parents have been through a lot. I can't imagine losing any of my children. They are my strength and my guidance during my duty as a parent. Not only have they lost children, but in 2001 my mom was diagnosed with kidney cancer resulting in losing a kidney. Two months later she was given only 2 more months to live as her cancer had spread to her bones. She was placed on hospice. We felt so blessed that she made it through that Christmas and even more blessed when she made it to her next birthday. Like I said, that was in 1998 and she is still with us and cancer free. Her and Dad have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2006.

Remember....Prayers can be answered and Miracles do happen!!

My mom is my continuous strength and her and I are very close.
