Work In Progress

work towards progress, not just a work in progress

About Me

Inspired by the misfortunes and the happy coincidences, the amazing acquaintances and the regretful friendships, the forced convictions and the adopted preferences. I was born in rural Vermont and continue to try to find a place that I can feel at home, past include both north and south California (ideally two states), Neuvo Mexico, and now Arizona.

I've done a few self released albums, the self titled Work in Progress (2003), WIP2 (2004), Attention Starved (2006), and Oh You Know How I Love To State The Obvious (2007) . Future releases are planned, of course, including a rerecorded, more professional sounding Attention Starved, the new album Don't Know Where We're Going, and a rock ep called Granite. I would like to very soon include piano, cello, and drums into my acoustic folk mix.
I got this neat microphone for my ipod, so I've been testing it out recording different things. Here is a recording for a show I did at the vegan restaurant in Flagstaff called HIP. download here
This was recorded days before the 4th year anniversary of Elliott Smith's death.
Tracklist:
1. Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands
2. I Figured You Out
3. All Cleaned Out
4. Can't Make A Sound
5. True Love
Work In Progress - Elliott Smith Tribute EP 2007
I'd like to start doing these every year. To all you Elliott fans, for potenially fucking up songs you love, sorry I love them too.

the name game

So I've often been concerned about losing the rights to my own band/artist name.  Work In Progress is a cliche, and as everyone knows cliches are overused in music.  I like it as a title, an...

So I've decided to change the name of the album I am working on back to the original title.  No more "Don't Know Where I'm Going"  (I might be scrapping that song as well) and now it is titl...

I got a cheap bass the other day, so I can finally stop recording my basslines with guitar.  Plus playing bass is fun, maybe I should quit the songwriter thing and just be a bassist.  N...
