About Me

Alex McManus has released 4 full length albums as the Bruces. "Family Day", originally a cassette released in 1991, was reissued in 2002 on CD by Chunklet Magazine's Henry Owings Little Army label. Also re-released by Henry was "Hialeah Pink" which was first pressed on vinyl in 1995 by Sing! Eunuchs records. 2002 saw "The War of the Bruces" come out on CD by Misra records, followed by "The Shining Path" in 2005. When he's not doing music as the Bruces, Alex plays or has played with a variety of artists past, present and future. He has toured and/or recorded with Lambchop, Simon Joyner, Bright Eyes, Vic Chesnutt, Empire State, Dave Cloud, The Acorns, Frontier Trust, Azure Ray, Crooked Fingers (Eric Bachmann & friends), Summer Hymns, Charlie Louvin, Cursive, The Olivia Tremor Control, and Mayday. Alex has also engineered recordings by Simon Joyner, Conor Oberst, Crooked Fingers, Ed Gray, Brian Poloncic, Tilly and the Wall, Bill Hoover, Miracles of God, Outlaw con Bandana, the Bruces (of course) and a collaboration between Calexico, Lambchop and Vic Chesnutt.
