Douglas Glenn Colvin was born on September 18,1952(Fort Lee,Virginia).Douglas was raised in Berlin,Germany as the son of an American soldier who stationed there and his mother a German woman.Douglas' parents seperated not long after his birth. At age 16 Douglas moved with his mother to Forest Hills, a section in New York City's borough of Queens. From there he met Tom Erdelyi and John Cummings.The three of them played together in a band called the Tangerine Puppets. Since being outcasts in a middle class neighborhood. Douglas,John and Tom became good friends. They met a guy named Jeffrey Hymen who played the drums,but after Dee Dee realised he couldn't sing and play bass at the same time so Joey took over the vocals,Tommy took over the drums and Johnny played the guitar. They formed the Ramones. Renaming themselfs Joey,Johnny,Dee Dee and Tommy.He during his teenage years he had been a prostitute. Dee Dee wrote and co-wrote most of the Ramones songs. Dee Dee was the original bassist from 1974-1989. He went on to persue a short period career in Rap music. He called himself "Dee Dee King". After he decided to just keep writing Ramones songs until they retired in 1996. Dee Dee had troubles with his drug addictions since he was a teenager.Mainly with heroin. Douglas Glenn Colvin "Dee Dee Ramone" died on June 5,2002 from an heroin overdose.
