My name is Richard A. Castillo. I am Chicano/Latino. I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I have always been into music since I can remember. During elementary, jr. high and high school, I played drums and percussion in the school band. I stopped playing instruments when I attended Arizona State University. However, I started DJaying on the side to help pay bills. Although I like all genre of music, I listen mainly to reggae, hip-hop/r&b, funk, oldies, christian and techno/house. During law school, my friends began calling me DJ Law. I have since used that as my stage name. After finishing law school and opening up my law practice in 1995 in Phoenix, I was fortunate to play percussion in a local reggae band, the "Rastafarmers." I later became their keyboard player. During that time, I dreamed of one day having a studio. I began recording in my garage on a 4-track. As I became more experienced and began meeting artists, I decided to become the "real" thing. I upgraded my equipment, overhauled the studio, and opened up "DJ Law Studio." I have been blessed to have very talented musicians, singers and other artists visit and record in the studio, including some of my own family members ............................................................ ... .........................................................Thi s site is dedicated to my niece, Nanci M. Castillo, who died tragically at the age of 18 years old on August 19, 2006. Her best friend, Lisa Fernandez, also passed away with her. I was blessed to have Nanci sing back up vocals on two original songs entitled "Knocking on Heaven's Door" and "Rain Your Love on Me." She was to sing vocals on other tracks but her life was cut short. She will forever be missed but not forgotten. WE LOVE YOU NANCI.
