I was in my youth when I first heard Bob Marley on the radio, but I didn't really understand the message of truth in his music. It wasn't until I met a promoter who has a passion for reggae music & he had planted this special seed in my heart, it was then that I truly started to listen to the lyrics. I then began to understand the reason Prophet Bob sang the type of music he did. Bob's message truly awakened my soul and helped me to pursue & find my own passion for encouraging the people through music.My desire to promote reggae music arose from the love of the music as well as the message and was especially influenced by artist such as the prophet Bob himself "Uprising". Papa Pilgrim the co-founder of RAW (Reggae Amabassador Worldwide), who birthed RAW in Salt Lake City, UT in 1992 . PP a man of faith & culture who inspired many in the way that he lived, (Papa R.I.P). Luciano aka "The Messenger", a man with an incredible spirit & powerful message. Morgan Heritage "More Teachings", the spiritual message in the album pulled the strings of my heart, inspired & moved me. (my very first purchased cd...a must have album), Groundation, Oooklah the moc & SOJA a band that brought new meaning to "Peace in time of War", just to name a few.Island Roots Promotions was established in 2005, producing reggae shows from local to international acts, inherently spreading the message of Jah love, peace & unity.If it weren't for reggae music I would not have the desire to reach out to a hurting & dieing world in ways that I can.
