About Me

"Omari"

A young, vibrant, passionate man, Omari's vision is to reach the lost youths of Jamaica and around the world. Born on February 3, 1980 in Kingston, Jamaica, his dynamic voice and peculiar gifting has paved many roads for him.

A lover of music, Omari grew up listening to icons, such as Babyface, Donnie McClurkin and others. At the age of seventeen, he attended a youth gospel concert, where he was an invited guest. Though he was a non-Christian, he felt compelled after having heard the gospel through one of his friends and received the Lord that night before his performance.

After his conversion, he helped to pioneer one of Jamaica's first gospel-rap groups, "Rappaz for Christ" and is currently a member of Family Church on the Rock.

More recently, Omari has been engaged in solo projects with well-renowned producer and personal mentor, Dannie Brownie, touching lives with the message of hope in the song “Help!” from the Album "YOW 4" Street Gospel. The song has been creating waves, not just in the gospel arena, but also in the secular, being featured on such stations as RETv, Tempo, Music+, Hype TV, CVM-TV, MTV-TEMPO, BET-JAZZ. The message of “Help” has touched many hearts, as many persons have been able to identify with the cry for Help which they know can only come from God. The response has further fueled what is at the heart of Omari's mission; that is to see lives changed and to renew hope in the lives of people all over the world.

It has made it to the 2 spot on the CVM Hitlist Countdown and 3 on the RETv Top Ten countdown and is still rising.

The video has made it to the 2 spot on the CVM Hitlist Countdown and 3 on the RETv Video Top Ten countdown. Omari has since received two Megajamz awards for best new male gospel vocalist and best music video for 2007. He has also been nominated for three Reggae Academy Awards, in the categories, Best Solo Male Vocal Gospel Performance, Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel Music Video.

Today, Omari is blazing a new trail with his message promoting abstinence on the RETV school tour; the first and only gospel minister, to date to do so. He is unyielding in his belief in using his voice to promote the gospel as well as to be a positive role model for the youth of Jamaica.

He has many new projects working on at the moment and intends on releasing his first album later this year. His vision is to be a true vessel of God, to minister healing to the youth of Jamaica and wherever in the world the Lord takes him. Wherever he goes, he endeavors to speak life to dead situations and to see the life of Christ come to those who are lost. In the future, he hopes to create many avenues for wholesome entertainment as an alternative for young people to enjoy their experience in God.
