About Me

.

......*......*......*......*......*......*......*......*.... ..*......*......*......*......*......*......*......*......*. .....*......*......*......*......*......*......*......*..... .*......* ...............Hello world, I'm Shannon. I was named after a river, that's a good thing, I like to go with the flow.... and I'm a free spirit. I'm a bit of a chameleon and get along with all kinds of people and situations. Variety is the spice of life! I'm a bit of a thrill seeker as well, so always up for a challenge and adventure. A sense of humour is a must. I have to laugh every day. I enjoy a good night out with friends staying up until silly o'clock as much as I enjoy a cosy night in with a duvet or an open fire and a good film, conversation or idle banter. I'm very independent so I'm low maintenance, but that doesn't mean I don't like a little pampering now and again. Although I don't like being smothered or want someone lapping at my feet, if I wanted that I'd get a puppy, or be googleing the fetisch sites. I'm a kiwi. I left NZ 17 years ago to fulfil my passion to travel (I've been to 29 countries - so far...) My other passion was to be an actress, I wanted that since I was 8 and that was in the 70's so it had nothing to do with wanting to become a celeb. Nope, mine was a real passion for the art. I grew up in the theatre. I lived for it. When I got older if I wasn't in the theatre I was either doing voluntary work for the NZIHC (which is like MENCAP in the UK) at the beach, writing poetry, making daisy-chains or eating cake. I was quite a tomboy in my younger years because all the kids in my street were boys. So rather than playing with dolls it was bow and arrows for me, cowboys and Indians, cricket, bull-rush, climbing trees, exploring places we weren't supposed to and all other kinds of boy stuff that you're not supposed to do. Grubby hands, dirty knees, dirtier feet and stubbed toes. Didn't they just kill! How come grown ups never get stubbed toes? When I became a teenager I became a bit of a hippy-child. Still had the barefeet + tangled hair, bells jangling off my long skirts, muslin tops, crystals hanging in my window, listening to Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, Ricki Lee Jones, Canned Heat, The Kinks, Neil Young, The Doors, Bowie, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Brownie McGee as well as Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals.... you got the idea and The Ebling Brothers! What happened to them? I've still got a bit of both tomboy and hippy in me, they're a part of me. I flew the coupe at 18 and moved to Auckland to pursue my acting passion and worked as a waitress and wine steward because I knew it would be easy to get jobs doing that when I started travelling. I applied to work with Camp America at the same time that I applied for the New Zealand Drama School. I got accepted for Camp America and was also offered an audition for Drama School. Dilemma!!! Ever been caught between a rock and a hard place.... Well I chose Camp America as it was a definite and meant I could fulfil my passion to travel - for a year or so I thought - then go home and re-apply for drama school. After camp the first place I came to in England was Manchester and after travelling about and living in other places and countries, I keep coming back & I'm still here! I don't regret my decision for one minute. I've had a fab time. I love Manchester; the people, the humour & most of all.... because you can! I've worked in various jobs, I'm currently working as a Business Analyst (yawn yawn, but it's paid the bills and helped me maintain my lifestyle) However.... In October 2007 I qualified as a Hypnotherapist, with a diploma in Advanced Holistic Hypnotherapy and in November 2007 I qualified as a certified EFT Practitioner. It's incredible.... I've found my calling! I've had my share of adversities and experienced enough of lifes trials and tribulations that I am now at a place where I want to do something that will help make someone elses world a happier/easier/more successful and more fulfilled place for them to be in and it's so fulfilling to be the facilitator of that! Genuine, open minded, honest, sincere, people are those that I warm to. People with integrity, those who understand the true values in life and live it to the full! After all, it's not a rehearsal, it's our only journey. So enjoy all the rides! Take on the rapids! And when life serves you lemons (as it sometimes does) make lemonade! -OR- Call me over and I'll bring the Tequila! ;-) xSx

My Interests

Cooking, I like cooking with wine, sometimes I even put it in the food! I enjoy travel first & foremost & intend to do more. Spontenaiety - but never on a Sunday if it's anything that requires an effort because Sunday is the day my effort has the day off! I love my family, I love my friends, I love Mancunia, I love sneezing, I love laughing - giggling when you're not supposed to & proper belly laughs. I like the sound of a cork coming out of a bottle of wine and the sound of the first pour. The sound of a can being opened, the Artist Reon Argondian, going home (NZ) and seeing my family, the smell of home, Matapouri Bay, exploring, reminiscing, shoes, handbags, Emperor Penguins, CAKE!, Burlesque, my MoJo, my 'Me' time, growing old disgracefully, shenanigans (of all kinds.... tee hee hee), 96.2 The Revolution, 42 Below Feijoa flavoured Vodka, Zubrowka Vodka, Hills Absinthe & Lemonade, Mohito's, Cuban beaches. I love rides - thrill rides - at fun parks or in the fun park of life in general.... FOOD! Candlelight, finding money in my pocket, the sound of rain, the smell of the sea, the feel of bare skin, being above the clouds, kids, cats, hugs, The Cirque du Soleil, fireworks, wind, thunderstorms, rivers, rainbows, waterfalls, beaches, shooting stars, making wishes, (I miss Margaret), crescent moons, the Northern Lights, fresh fruit, Mother Nature... One of the most amazing things I have seen was a moonbow. A rainbow at night time, by the light of the moon. It was back home in NZ and we were out in the countryside, the sky was clear, the moon was full and bright, there were millions of stars on display, but it was slightly misty at land level and there it was! A perfect midnight rainbow, A moonbow! Quite surreal because the sky and the countryside was bright and shiny but it was dark and still, about 1am. The colours were deep and moody rather than soft and pastelie like rainbows are by daylight. It was a picture. Awesome. An image I will never forget....

You are The Lovers

Motive, power, and action, arising from Inspiration and Impulse.

The Lovers represents intuition and inspiration. Very often a choice needs to be made.

Originally, this card was called just LOVE. And that's actually more apt than "Lovers." Love follows in this sequence of growth and maturity. And, coming after the Emperor, who is about control, it is a radical change in perspective. LOVE is a force that makes you choose and decide for reasons you often can't understand; it makes you surrender control to a higher power. And that is what this card is all about. Finding something or someone who is so much a part of yourself, so perfectly attuned to you and you to them, that you cannot, dare not resist. This card indicates that you have or will come across a person, career, challenge or thing that you will fall in love with. You will know instinctively that you must have this, even if it means diverging from your chosen path. No matter the difficulties, without it you will never be complete.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

You Are Apple Red
You're never one to take life too seriously, and because of it, you're a ton of fun. And although you have a great sense of humour, you are never superficial. Deep and caring, you do like to get to the core of people - to understand them well. However, any probing you do is light hearted and fun, sometimes causing people to misjudge you. What Color Red Are You?
You Are Orange
Bright and intense, you embrace the world and all its opportunities. Change does not intimidate you, even if it's a complete life overhaul. You're a very real person. You aren't scared to show the world who you are. What Color Orange Are You?
You Are Olive Green
You are the most real of all the green shades. You're always true to yourself. For you, authenticity and honesty are very important... both in others and yourself. You are grounded and secure. It takes a lot to shake you. People see you as dependable, probably the most dependable person they know. What Color Green Are You?
You Are Indigo
Of all the shades of blue, you are the most funky, unique, and independent. Expressing yourself and taking a leap of faith has always been easy for you. What Color Blue Are You?
You Are Iris
You are an interesting blend of fun and wisdom. You definitely make people think about themselves and their place in the world. But they'll have fun doing it. You definitely epitomize laughter therapy. You are a very enriching and entertaining friend! What Color Purple Are You?

I’ve Learned….

I’ve learned that….

Our background & circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I’ve learned that….

Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.

I’ve learned that….

If you miss someone, tell them so otherwise they’ll never know and you might miss an opportunity.

I’ve learned that….

Opportunities are never lost; someone else will always take the ones you miss.

I’ve learned that….

When one door closes another one opens, but if we stare too long at the one that’s closed we miss all the other ones opening around us.

I’ve learned that….

Being too proud doesn’t do anyone any favours.

I’ve learned that….

When you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I’ve learned that….

When you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I’ve learned that….

I can’t choose how I feel, but I can choose what I do about it.

I’ve learned that….

Life is tough, but I’m tougher.

I’ve learned that….

Sometimes when we’re angry, we have the right to be angry, but that doesn’t give us the right to be cruel.

I’ve learned that….

You cannot make someone love you, all you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

I’ve learned that ….

No matter how much you care, some people just don’t care back.

I’ve learned that….

No matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn’t stop for your grief.

I’ve learned that…

It is not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts.

I’ve learned that....

You shouldn’t judge people on the bad experiences you’ve had with other people from your past.

I’ve learned that….

You can do something in an instant, that will give you heartache for life.

I’ve learned that ….

It takes years to build up trust & only seconds to destroy it.

I’ve learned that….

You can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you’d better know something.

I’ve learned that….

Regardless of how hot & steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades & there had better be something else to take its place.

I’ve learned that….

Just because two people argue, it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other

& just because they don’t argue, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they do.

I’ve learned that….

True friendship continues to grow, even over long distance Same goes for True Love.

I’ve learned that ….

You shouldn’t compare yourself to others, or whatever others can do.

I’ve learned that….

You can, keep going long after you think you can’t.

I’ve learned that….

Either you control your attitude, or your attitude controls you.

I’ve learned that….

Credentials on the wall don’t make you a decent human being.

I’ve learned that….

Heroes are people who do what has to be done, when it needs to be done…. regardless of the consequences.

I’ve learned that….

We don’t have to change friends, If we understand that friend’s change.

I’ve learned that….

Two people can look at the exact same thing & see something totally different.

I’ve learned that….

Best friends, can do anything, or nothing & still have the best time.

I’ve learned that….

Money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I’ve learned that….

Even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

I’ve learned that….

Sometimes, the people you expect to kick you when you’re down, will be the ones who are there to help you get back up.

I’ve learned that….

Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had & what you’ve learned from them & less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.

I’ve learned that….

Your family won’t always be there for you. But, people you aren’t related to can take care of you & love you & teach you to trust people again. Families aren’t always biological.

I’ve learned that….

No matter how good a friend is, they’re going to hurt you every once in a while & we must forgive them for that.

I’ve learned that….

It isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes we have to learn to forgive ourselves.

I’ve learned that….

You shouldn’t be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

I’ve learned that….

Your life can be changed in a matter of hours, by people you don’t even know.

I’ve learned that….

you should keep your words both soft & tender, because tomorrow you may have to eat them.

I’ve learned that ….

It’s taking me a long time, to become the person that I want to be.

I’ve learned that….

People might forget what you have said, people might forget what you have done, but no one will forget how you made them feel.

I’ve learned that….

You should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I’ve learned that….

We are responsible for what we do…. no matter what we say or how we feel …

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; for they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater & lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune but do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here and whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding for you as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive God to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul…

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be careful... Strive to be happy...

The truth about the man called Jesus - My theory

I have a theory about Jesus.  I don't believe he rose from the dead at all.  My theory is that he simply passed out on the cross and went into a shallow coma, got put in the tomb then 3...
