I don't remember it, I guess because I was highly stressed at the time! My parents chose Dominic, after the saint, as my first name and Paul, after the doctor who helped me into the world.
All my life, I've been surrounded by music, my eldest sister practising classical scales and swooping arpeggios on the family piano all day, my brother working out Guns n Roses songs, by listening to them over and over.
I used to smash at the piano at an early age, which gradually formed into notes, into hesitant melodies and, by the age of about ten or eleven, into my own compositions.
I've always had a non-conformist attitude to music, I like the pick up and play aspect, rather than the study involved in the classical way of playing.
I used to sit for hours listening to Metallica tapes, working out their music myself, rather than buying a book and learning it that way. To me, that kills the excitement involved in piecing it together yourself.
I used my music as a kind of solace during my school years. I was never the popular kid, so I wandered down to the piano and just played. Even now I get cranky if I can't play an instrument for at least an hour a day. I'm an emotional person so I need that outlet to keep me calm.
I formed my first band when I was 12, this led to more bands during my teens, and we gigged all over England. It's great to be so young with so much live experience behind me.
The day I quit my normal part time job when I was sixteen, was one of my finest moments, from then on I've never looked back!
I went solo because I was always the driving force of the bands I was in and it was my songs we performed. Being a solo artist brings a fantastic freedom of expression to the music I play because it stems from just one vision- mine (AHAHAHA! Evil Megalomaniac laugh).
The pivotal point of my career was when I was invited to perform at stadiums with Blue, Jamie Cullum, Will Young, Sugababes, McFly, Girls Aloud and other acts all around the UK. The response was unbelievable, the crowds blew me away!
The years of gigging I'd already done helped me up there on the big stages. With my one man band - Mr Neil Kay, a friend and band member since high school, we had the time of our lives, entertaining thousands and mingling with the stars at parties.
Since then we've been concentrating on touring, touring, touring - in Asia, Europe and USA. I love the feeling of getting out there and playing my songs to great audiences, night after night. I'm also recording frequently, laying down tracks for my first album.
