What Malcolm Moore (the label director of Altered Moods Recordings) says about Marco:
This cat is deep. Nuff 'said...end of story. I do believe it's only a few times in one's life that one is able to meet someone who so thoroughly understands matters of the heart and how they are directed with music. I think I can say that this is one of the reasons why the music industry as it is is a horrible state of affairs, because people like Marco don't get the kind of attention that they deserve because there are so many artists out there who are willing to make garbage tracks just so theyll have cash for their house payment. You can tell in every way that Marco does it for the love. It's an honor to have Marco on as an artist for the label...particularly because he doesn't need to be...one glance at the Mixomat Recordings website should be more than enough proof of that.Oh, get a load of this - in a conversation I had with him, he said that a number of his tracks are 'experiments.' Okay, wait, so you mean to tell me you're not even working hard at it, man?! DAMN! All right, just watch this space, because you haven't seen the last of Marco.
The story behind:
In 1988, it was Marco's 12th birthday, his uncle gave him a vinyl produced by Tyree - Acid Over. This music was completely new and rare at this time but marco's interest and passion for electronic music was born. In 1990 BFBS started producing a radio show called "The Steve Mason Experience". Most productions were done by british artists - "Rave" or Breakbeat and Jungle were the main themes of the earlier radio shows. After a few years he was also supporting artists from all over the world and more styles of danceable electronic music. He also came to germany to spin the decks and, for the first time in his life, Marco was raving in 1993 in a small club near Osnabrück. These events weren't regular at that time but another Radioshow called "HR3 Clubnight" was on the radio every saturday night for three hours. Marco decided to stay at home to record the show on many, many tapes. Three years later after listening to electronic music all day long and regular club "experiences" he decided to produce something on his own.
In 1996, after buying a Korg Poly-800, a Roland TR-707 and a cheap Alesis EFX - Marco made his first steps into programming and editing. The earlier tracks were simple but the interest to produce something different held on. The setup was growing and changing regularly, every free minute was spent to dive into new soundscapes and rhythm structures. Especially the Detroit styles back then was Marco's main focus but after a short period of time he also discovered his passion for Ambient soundscapes and formed a new very calm project.
Four years after of making field-recordings, programming and editing of the Ambient stuff was the time for some new danceable styles. The track mindslide was the result of some years of passionate soundscapes editing and thats the reason why the athmosphere is kinda special. Dubtech was the next station but in a warm way. Now it's deep, soulful House music as a result of the different experiences in making music, to his adoreable inspirations, his truly believers and soulmates and indeed life ..............
