i love techno last year... dj bone...
i'm a small time dj in a small time town... some of you may know it as London, UK... born and bred in East London, i began spinning records during the rave era, happy hardcore and all that :) as the rave got more junglist, i moved onto techno and house. the more records i bought, the more appreciative of the whole "house" movement i became... now, i just buy good music. whether it be soul, funk, disco, jazz, broken beats, hip hop, house, techno, world music, etc etc, i'm buying it... of course, this is a slow, steady progression. is there ever enough money in the world to buy good music? well, there probably is. maybe... but i won't ever have enough money, so i'm going to have to make do with the slow steady progression i'm afraid...
the music i play is heavily influenced by the detroit/chicago thing. for me, it's all about the beats and the rhythms... if it doesn't get me in the groove, it doesn't get me at all... esteemed artists such as derrick may, juan atkins, kevin saunderson, carl craig, jeff mills, frankie knuckles, adonis, dj pierre, glenn underground, dj sneak, li'l louis, kenny dixon jr, theo parrish, ben sims, surgeon, dave clarke, the advent, dj rush, kraftwerk, q-bert... anymore?... roy davis jr, boo williams, l.a. williams, paul johnson, stacy kidd, gemini, cajmere, thomas bangalter, blake baxter, terrence parker, eddie fowlkes, underground resistance, mike banks, dj rolando, los hermanos, detroit beatdown, rick wade... ... ... and many, many others... have helped me, and inspired me to dj the way i do today. with appreciation and with passion. which is pretty much expected from any dj. i believe in giving your best performance, and giving your own take on the music you play. creating your own personality to share for the people listening.
