We Used To Cut The Waves (2001-2006)

About Me

After some dwelling about, in 2001 four guys from the Utrecht area settle down, get to know each other better and start dealing with their band in a serious way. Feeling they..ve got something different to say in these overcrowded times, they naturally fuse their similarities ánd differences in musical taste. A unique and tasty blend of modern Metal, Hardcore, Emo and Noise evolves from their thoughts and feelings to their instruments. A level of intense communication and a wide spectrum of emotions are spewed forth, featuring crushing power chords fighting with (not always) subtle (dis)harmonies and dynamics next to a dual vocal attack.Enter the hot summer of 2003. During the recording of the first demo, it gets painfully (well, almost..) clear, that the singing department could use some (not to say a lot of) improvement. And so the ..Quest For A Real Singer/ Screamer.. starts and luckily ends soon with the entrance of a fellow Utrecht boy, named Bob (be easy on him, he can..t help it). Soon he has the lyrics and the songs down as if he has always been part of them, injecting a new level of intensity to the music and raising the bar even higher. The vocals for the demo are re-recorded to total praise from the other band members and those around them. But alas, after that obligatory summer break, bass player Ramon decided to leave the Cameron family to pursue a career in Jazz. He will be dearly missed. But lo and behold! The city of Leiden quickly held a new hero by the name of Johan (with an edge!). Since practice still makes perfect (well, sort of..) he..s done his homework, adds muddy waters to the sound and before we knew it, the Cameron train is running again. With a fresh and powerful new line-up, a whole bunch of songs to show the world, the collective went up, down, left n.. right. From Hoogeveen (Trashfest) via hometown Utrecht (ACU) to Aachen, Germany (AZ) shows were played, stages wrecked, bills paid, sweat lost and friends gained. A lot of really swell guys and gals on the road from all over the country and bands from all over the world like Gantz, Playing Enemy, Malkovich, Chleb,Officer Jones And His Patrol Car Problems, you name em, shared this feeling called life. The demand for some serious recordings prompts the band to squirt out their first EP. Five songs were recorded over two days with Patrick Delabie at his Studio 195 (Dead Stop, Justice, Rubbish Heap, Songs:Ohia). One track appears on the Trashfest 10th anniversary LP/CD and the four others are released on the 2nd of December 2005 under the moniker ..After Many A Summer...The brothers in arms are now full steam blazing to go out and connect with more like-minded people and blow the minds of others.
