Kevin Mitchell- Musical Bio: Secret Origin Revealed!Hailing from Chicago’s South Side, Kevin Mitchell has grown into an accomplished guitarist, marketing representative, writer and promoter.Virtually self-taught with the exception of a few private lessons at age 14, Kevin spent his "downtime" expanding his musical abilities, learning from musicians from around the world while working full-time and attending school for philosophy and humanities followed by marketing and communications. He credits the greats of Jazz, Gospel, Blues Afro-Cuban, Funk, Rock, Soul and various forms from around the world as giving him inspiration, but also the soundtracks of movies he watched and House music.At the beginning of the 21st Century, Kevin Mitchell, returning from a “musical hiatus” of 2 years and returned to Chicago, joined many bands virtually all at once, created a production group by the name of Omnipresence as well as numerous promotional entities and companies to support the aspects of his diverse palette of interests, including graphic arts and creative writing. Omnipresence crafted tracks for various commercial projects, Hip-Hop MCs and other groups, but also released 6 EPs of “demo-material” between 2002 and 2005.Kevin said, in reference to his musical drives: “In creative writing, when I would visualize any scene, my ears were filled with music that I was writing to myself. In going through life, music played to me in my mind to illustrate the numerous scenarios I found myself in and I’ve got some serious stories to tell. It got to a point where I had to play. It’s still that way. I’m inspired by everything I see, hear and feel. I never actually intended to be a guitarist, per se. Fortunately, for my modest beginnings, yet great experiences, there always seemed to be some kind of guitar lying around. For me, music is how all that exists relates to all else there is. Music is life but it is also what is not considered to be alive.
