Well, just in case anybody is interested in reading about me....
I am a veteran of the US Army. I served 6 years, mostly in Europe in various positions. I attained the rank of Sgt E-5 and was a Squad Leader in West Berlin. I left Berlin just as tensions were at a peak and the Wall came down. Very exciting times.
After the Army, I was involved in various aspects in the entertainment and music industry for a while. It was a great time, meeting many exciting and famous people. I do occasionally miss some of those brain cells I killed during that period.
I worked as a Marine Mechanic, and Auto Mechanic, eventually owning my own repair business. During that time I got in to the 4X4 scene, leading to my involvement in NAXJA (North American XJ Association). I was involved with NAXJA from the early days through today, serving in various capacities. These included being elected to the Board of Directors as Vice President, later serving as President of NAXJA. I was involved in the web site as an Editor, then website/Forums Admin, a position I still hold to this day. NAXJA can be found at www.naxja.org and is listed at www.big-boards.com as one of the biggest forums on the internet.
My biggest departure from the norm, was becoming a FireFighter. *THAT* was certainly different from anything I had done in the past, and was probably one of the best jobs I ever had. I worked up through the ranks as an Officer, Lt. to Rescue Captain, Instructor, to Battalion Chief (at the time, the highest ranking Fire Officer in the Dept).
During my time with NAXJA, my friend and I formed a web hosting company. That was a great experience, if not frustrating and time consuming. I got to interact with some great people and acquired many new skills. For the most part, I got out of the hosting business late 2005. Time availability was a large part of that, as I was volunteering for the Red Cross. I was gone from October through late December working disaster relief for Hurricane's Katrina, Rita and lastly Wilma.
I am currently living in West New York, NJ, (just across the Hudson River from Manhattan) and was the Web Producer for the Wake Up With Whoopi radio show.... it was fun, and I got to meet a lot of great people.
