I've been playing pan for 16 years, I started in my school band at the age of 13 and after my 1st Panorama I joined Ebony Steel Band where I have been ever since. Playing pan has given me the opportunity to tour over 30 countries throughout the world, an experience which has undoubtedly shaped my perspective on life.
I am a full-time musician currently teaching, giging, touring and even busking, so you could say Steel Pan is my life. I have never studied music and I am self taught in my art so I relish opportunities to play with all musicians as I belive there is something to be learned from everybody.
I have entered Pan-Explosion 5 times and have won in all 3 catogories, Soloist, Duet and Ensamble. For those who don't know Pan Explosion is the biggest competion for young soloists, and arrangers in the UK and is governed by the BAS (British association of Steelpan).
I have now been passing my knowledge on to the younger generation by teaching in over 20 schools including Goldsmith College of Music. Teaching is something I love but my true goal is to be respected as a solo artist bringing steelpan to the forefront of the music scene, so its not just seen as something that is associated with calypso and nottinghill carnival.This year 2007 I had the opportunity to arrange in panorama for the band i've played in for 13 years. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life so far and to put the iceing on the cake we won! Give thanks and Jah bless .
