Ashlin, This is the song I like that you insist is a song about some psycho, serial killer, child molestor. But its not and if you watch the music video for this song, it becomes pretty clear. Its about liking someone that's unavailable. Basically, Bruce is fixing this beautiful woman's car, who flashes her wedding ring and lives in a big house. He goes to her house to drop off the keys, and hesitates ringing the doorbell, before just leaving the keys in her mail drop and walking away sadly. There's nothing he can really do about the infatuation.My interpretation of this song is as follows: The singer is in love with a woman who has a boyfriend already, maybe even a husband. This husband/boyfriend is probably not good to her, perhaps he even treats her as if he were her father instead of her lover. The singer wants to step in and be her loverAll y'all, go buy or rent the movie "Badlands" with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek (released in 1973). The last two stanzas were lifted straight from that movie, and the whole song is more about the f***ed up Kit-Holly relationship. I seem to recall Bruce even saying that that movie was the inspiration for this song.Does anyone ever really know anything about a person? I just turned 31 this year and I wish I could say that life has gotten easier over the years but what is more factual is that each year proves to be harder and harder, with ever changing challenges that at surface level seem insurmountable, but inevitably always "seem" to work themselves out. Experience my friend is an understatement. I've grown older and bolder and just kind of adopt a submissive "yes Dear" approach to most things now a days. I just moved back to my hometown of Bardstown after a 13 year hiatus in the lovely sinful metropolis of Knoxville Tennessee. Sometimes people take advantage, though Terri just assumes this is normal. I am introducing her to a population that is keenly different. She will understand though I hate this fuddy duddy little town for everything it isn't, I've grown deeply appreciative for that which it is. My daughter occupies an enormous amount of my time and she is definately the fruit of my loins because no child on the planet could require more attention than this one. She's a ham and we all love her very much. As for my wife Terri, she is a Scorpio, that right there would be enough said but my mother had an interesting quip about it one time stating, "She hate's as intensely as she loves." That she does. She asks me for a divorce about once a week but then comes back around and I'm right here waiting. She explemplifies the love/hate relationship. I love her much, she is the mother of my child, but why didn't somebody warn me about marriage. This has been the best and worst year of my life. I talked to an old man the other day who said it got better after 3 years and I'm thinking, what the hell does he know, he just told me ten seconds before that that he'd gotten out of prison for killing her. Can't live with 'em, can't live with out 'em. She's a keeper though, but if I die unexplainably I want a full autopsy, tox screen, investigation, the whole nine yards. Thats love people.
