BIO
Based out of Louisville Never the man is an experimental/alternative rock band fronted by Jholeen Lesure Meeks and her hauntingly beautiful voice . Their music roots stem from a melting pot of acoustic beginnings followed by a dirty attitude. In 2003, Never the Man formed when Jholeen moved all the way from Chandler, AZ to Louisville, KY to join a rock band living in the bluegrass and pursue her dream. Along the way, Kevin Hart joined the band. His unique creative genius and Jholeen’s writing abilities harmonized very well together. Due to creative differences the drummer and bassist at the time left the band. After many try outs Kevin ran into Robbie Hall, a talented drummer whom he had jammed with in an earlier band. His perfect timing and tasteful rhythm was just what they needed. Now they needed a bassist. Mutual friends had recommended Juan Chavolla who tried out and was a perfect fit. Juan has now brought motivation and solid bass licks to the current line-up that makes up Never the Man.Never the Man recorded for the first time at The Barbershop Studios (also home to Dream Makers Music) in April of 05. Never the Man’s manager, Joe Carney, introduced Dream Makers Music to the band and after hearing and getting to know the band, they were overcome by their sound, great attitudes, and distinctive aura. Dream Makers was so enthused about the developing group, they brought in award winning producer and sound engineer, Jason Corsaro to help take the band to the next level. Corsaro has worked with the likes of Sound Garden, Motor Head, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Steve Windwood, Corrosion of Conformity, Duran Duran and Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Dream Makers Music saw extreme potential in what they heard and decided to offer the band a record deal. Never the man then recorded their first album under contract “What Makes You Better†which was released in March of 07.Never the Man appeals to a broad spectrum of entities.
