Out of a roots reggae band and a DJ team
we founded the Dandelion Soundsystem in the year 2001 as a project of
conscious rasta DJs, musicians and sound engineers to deal with the traditional
style of a roots reggae soundsystem.
So we rock the massive with rare tunes via a self build system and work
with singers, effect units and sirens on the live set. Add up with BassTafari,
who works with djambees and percussions to award the sound a special vitality.
Because of the own speakers and the special combination of amplifiers,
equalizers and mixing desks, we have created a well tuned instrument, which
permits an own interpretation and an own sound of music produced for special
systems. You will find on our turntable tunes out of the mostly unknown
world of roots reggae, in which still rastas are producing many songs with
actual meanings and danceable beats. Also you will find own productions
of our engineer Ical Dub and the singer Treasure Irie.
An other main emphasis of Dandelion dances is dub: whether kicking neo dub
creations or driving dub versions of vocals, since artist like King Tubby starts
to mix instrumental versions on the b-side of a 7 with effects and to put the
bass and
the drum in the foreground, more and more people become crazy for that
sound.
Our soundsystem shall be a platform for constructive social criticism.
Whether
live or from the vinyl - the lyrics deal with actual developments in
our society
and with a different view on the history of mankind. Through our music
we want
to express a life style and the spirituality of Ras Tafari. Last but
not least
our soundsystem shall invite to rock, to stepp and to meditate.
