THE BEGINNING Founded in November 1997 by Roger, who just quit his band Colum R and Phil, singer of the successful Swiss electronic band FAQ. As a duo they began to write songs, performed with guitars, keyboards and sequencer and, which will be the trademark of the band, two lead vocals. In 1999, the old-routined and talented drummer Stephan joined the band. Because the band didnt want to make the trio to a quartet, Phil decided to play the bass player. The band was ready to go on...
GIVE PEACE A NAME France always played an important role in the band founders life. Not just because theyre very inspired by French rock music such as Noir Désir or Indochine, its also their favorite destination. The love for France and having two lead vocals gave the band their first name Aix-En-Voix. Because of the fact, that most of the lyrics are written in English, the band decided to sound more intercontinental. So, the name was finally shorten to AIX in the end of 2000. AIX is based on the French word paix and means peace. Its also the shortform of the capital of the Provence region in south of France Aix-En-Provence.
THE VOODOO EXPERIENCE In November 2003, AIX went on their first big tour in Germany together with established cult band Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub and were celebrated by more than 10'000 spectators. At the same time, AIX signed a record deal with Swiss record label Thunderdome and released their first official record Compact Aixtracts.
THINGS HAVE CHANGED In 2006 Roger left the band and new members were found in shape of Lawrence Farmer (guitars), Rolf Balsiger (bass). AIX played their first live concert as a quartet in spring and a few more live shows in Switzerland and Germany in summer/fall '06. the band is currently on the post-production for their first official longplayer (released date tba)
