About Me

Robert Smit, born on 24th of July 1973, started buying records at an early age when he met Ferry Corsten and found out that they shared the same interest: House Music. Both started mixing tapes for friends. Then they met Rene and John who had their own small music studio. The four joined forces which resulted in Robert's first record production entitled "Spirit of Adventure" for Hithouse Records at the age of 18.His 2nd release "Tellurians - The Navigator" was a huge underground hit in Germany in 1992.From then on Ferry and Robert went their own way with productions for Blue Records under the name of "Alternative" and "Bladeracer".Robert's first solo project appeared in 1995 under the name Kcrushed One.He produced "Release Yourself" and "Fet=m" for the Dutch label Native Dance Records and SciFi Records. His first commercial success was when Robert produced together with Ferry "Roef - Outthere" for Byte Records. From 1998 Robert and Ferry (together with the Dutch record-company Purple Eye Entertainment) joined forces in Tsunami, a label for which they both produce. For this label Robert is responsible for "Elektrika", "The Generator" and "2HD". Due to the success of the label abroad they started Polar State in the beginning of 1999 as Tsunami's sub-label. Robert produced the first and second release on this label. The first was called "Generator - Where Are You Now?" and has been licensed to various countries around the world. The second single is called "Perfect Pervert" by "Caveman".Under the "Caveman" pseudonym Robert has produced the massive "E-Play" track which has been released on the Tsunami special blend label. Also later out on Tsunami Special Blend "Smiter" with "Both Places", this track was picked-up by Dj's like Paul van Dyk and Dj Tiësto. Robert also co-produced the massive follow-up single of System F "Out of the blue" entiteld "Cry". This track took trance to a different level combining soulful vocals by Saskia Lie Atjam with typical trance sound. Rank 1, Oliver Lieb and Ferry Corsten provided additional remixes. Furthermore Robert made a mix compilation album together with Ferry Corsten called "Tsunami One" which was released in 2000. "Tsunami One" was a success world-wide and Robert's mix set the tone for a new compilation concept called "Time Zones +1" which was released in March 2002 on the Purple Eye label.Robert's latest productions are called "Stargate vs The Generator - The Arrival" a collabarotion with Producer Rob Fabrie (Stargate) which has been licensed to "Good As" in the UK. Also released on the Polar State imprint is Robert first and second production under his own name, "Robert Smit - It's In The Game" and "Robert Smit - Waitin' for love" . This 12" will set the tone for a new future sound of dance music around the globe Also as a DJ, Robert is already a well known appearance in the international scene. His specific sound creates a warm and floorfilling set that can be heard all over the globe. His sets can be heard in cities like; L.A., Seoul, Tel Aviv, St Petersburg, Riccione (Italy) and Valletta (Malta).
