My Interests

Music:

Band Website: [email protected]
Band Members: I grew up listening to mix tapes fromHip Hop pioneers like The Cold Crush Brothers and Fantastic Romantic 5. Back then,at the age of 10, my favorite DJ's were Charlie Chase, Grand Wizard Theodore and DJHollywood. Because of them, I grew up listening to Bob James, Cerrone, JamesBrown, Rufus Thomas, Melvin Bliss, ESG, and 7th Wonder, just to name a few.Because of them, I wanted to be a DJ.

My first turntables were rare Technics SL 1600's.

They were rare because theyhad a rotary pitch control in the front center of the turntable and had a green "0" point light &red lights on both sides of the green light (when you slowed the record up, the red lightslit up to the left of the "0" point and when you sped up, the red lights lit up to theright of the "0" point). For a mixer, I had a GLI 9000. As time went on, I wentthrough silver 1200's and Black 1210's. Now it's CDJ's. Back then I still lovedHip Hop.

But things changed in 1984. That's when I heard a record by ManuelGottsching called "E2-E4". That's when I fell in love with Electronic music. By1987, I had bought "E2-E4" and was a regular at a club in Manhattan called "TheWorld". It was an old movie theater off of Houston Street and they played the bestdeep house. That's when I started to collect House records.

Throughout the 90's, I DJ'ed everywhere I could, from street festivals toweddings to corporate parties. Although I spun all genres of music, I only spunHip Hop & House at private house parties that I threw. As a result, I was alwayskicked out of my apartments due to the music and the people traffic. I becameknown for driving around in a U-Haul moving truck with my records and clothes, looking in the newspaper for a place to live. But no matter where I went, I alwaysplayed my music loud and I always loved House.

In the year 2000, I was introduced to Trance by my co-workers. We wouldlisten to Webster Hall Tranzworld CD's while we built houses. I quickly fell inlove with Trance and devoted years to learn the good songs from the bad. Althoughthe world was switching over to CD's, I continued to spend thousands of dollarsbuying Trance classics on eBay. I wanted these records even though I planned tomix CD's.

Over the years, my hearing has deteriorated. I "retired" (sort of) fromDJ'ing in 2004 after my last residency at "Harry's Roadhouse" in Asbury Park, NewJersey. I knew my hearing was bad because my sets were louder than the bands thatplayed there. Every week, the manager's would tell me to lower my music because ofthe complaints from the police. I could have used ear plugs but I didn't. That'sthe only thing I regret.

Since then, the economy has gotten worse and the construction jobs aregetting harder to find. That's why now I think it's time to look for anotherresidency. Although I will always be remembered as a Hip Hop DJ, this MySpaceprofile is designed to showcase my love for Progressive House and Trance.

I thank you for taking the time to learn a little about my past. Mostimportantly, I hope you learn all you can about the men and women whose songs I'vechosen to mix.

DJ Swears.
