Perry has studied with, Peter Erskine, Jeff Hamilton, Greg Bissonette, Joe LaBarbara, Michael Carvin, Freddie Waits, Steve Bagby, Ricky Lawson, Dom Moio, and Danny Tomlinson.Perrys professional music career started at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he studied classical percussion before transferring to William Paterson College in New Jersey. At William Paterson, Senn studied with Steve Bagby, Dave Samuels, Rufus Reid, Harold Mayburn and other greats who came over from The Big Apple. In between going to Manhattan to see the many great jazz players perform, he obtained his Bachelors Degree in Music/Jazz Study and Performance and began doing gigs on a weekly basis around New Jersey. Senn then moved to Phoenix, where he also learned congas and played a variety of gigs both drums and percussion. With much experience under his belt he then moved to the music capital to take his playing to the next level.
Since relocating in Los Angeles, Perry has played at House of Blues, B.B. Kings, Cozy's, Knott's Berry Farm, Disneyland, The Mint, Highland Center in Hollywood and numerous other venues in the area. During this time Senn also traveled overseas playing in Sweden, France and Canada as well as the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.Senn has worked with numerous artists along the way including Chuck Berry, and Branford Marsalis; Jazz trumpet legend- Jack Sheldon; Producer, composer, arranger and acclaimed musician- David Garfield; Guitar greats - Johnny Hiland, Carmen Grillo; Jazz bassists,- Chris Colangelo and Chris Conner; Blues greats, Arthur Adams, Roy Gaines, John Marx and Francine Reed of Lyle Lovett's band, most of the Scarletts, 11-piece Blowin' Smoke band and Arlan Shierbaum(hammond organ & R&B keyboard wizard). He also performed and led the 7-piece horn band of Chester White and the Soul Pigs(in Phx).Other notable artists Senn worked with include jazz piano artists- Charles Lewis and Armand Boatman; jazz singers Alice Tatum, Bernie Meisinger, and Margo Reed;salsa-dance band Linda and Carmella playing timbales and The Coasters and The Platters.Senn is currently touring with The Doo-Wah Riders, a band boasting two current chart success' ('07) with two singles,"Smothered, Covered,& Scattered" and "Dear Beer" charting at 31 and 38 respectively on the Texas Country Music Charts. Since his playing with this group beginning in 2004 they have opened for Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley, Terry Clarke, Colin Raye, Lonestar and Tracy Lawrence. They play between 255-270 days throughout the year for festivals-including St. Agreve, France, Fairs and concert openings, nationwide and internationally, often to crowds 2,000- 10,000. Notably the group performed to 30,000 at Coca-Cola Raceway in Charlotte N.C- for the world premier of the movie "CARS" in 2006.
Perry continues to play gigs in and around LA when in town as well as teach lessons, always continuing to drop in and support other musician's gigs.
