I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I live in New Mexico -- the Land of Enchantment -- and I work out of my home as a field editor for the American Quarter Horse Racing Journal. My work has also appeared in several other industry publications, including Daily Racing Form, HorsePlayer Magazine, Hoof Beats, the New Mexico Breeders' Magazine, and the Texas Thoroughbred Assn. Magazine. Perhaps you've seen it.I am a graduate of the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program, class of 1996, and I usually get back every year for the Symposium. One of my goals is to qualify for the National Handicapping Championship or Coast Casinos Handicapping World Series, both of which are held in Las Vegas.I know there's a lot of horse racing stuff there -- so lest anyone think I have a "one-track mind," I also enjoy movies and reading, and I am a member of several book clubs in the Albuquerque area.

My Interests

My interests vary, but primary interests are reading, writing, photography, traveling, crossword puzzles and games...right now, my main interest is getting my physical health back...

I'd like to meet:

People who are told "you can't do (something)," then go out and do it. People who think outside the box. Positive, real people who have a sense of themselves and are willing to share their gifts with others.People who work in the horse racing industry, or at least have a healthy respect for the industry and sport.

Music:

70s soul and R&B...classic jazz...

Movies:

Too many to list.

Television:

MASH, Seinfeld, MadTV (reruns, not the current version), Sanford & Son, and Everybody Loves Raymond reruns...also, I've become big on The Food Network. Ask me any trivia question on Seinfeld -- try to stump me!

Books:

Again, too many to list. Right now, I'm reading "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert for one of my book groups, and "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini for another book group. Two of the best books I read in 2007 were "Presidential Courage" by Michael Bechloss and "The Kite Runner."
