Sacramento based christian rock band, Soulfilter announces it's newest addition; Bassist, Dave Snyder!
Biography
In Late 2004 guitarist, Sean Conklin met up with front man, Scott Hahn and the two began tossing the idea around of forming a rock band. They had played together formerly in a worship band and the idea of forming a rock band had generated more than a few times. Scott, a Texas native and former front man of Innocent Jones, a North Texas based Christian rock band, wrestled with the thought for nearly a year.
Finally, in early 2006 Sean and Scott began writing a few originals out of their living rooms and garages. The two began doing anything they could to help SoulFilter become a band. However, the dream was far from fulfilled as they hadn’t yet acquired the much needed drummer and bassist. In the fall of 2006 Sean and Scott began auditioning drummers and ran into Sacramento native, Jason Smalling. Jason, a drummer of several years with an extensive list of past bands and current projects seemed to be an instant fit. The threesome met only twice and had already begun writing new originals. Only 1/2 hour into their second practice, they threw down their new song, "The Unseen"
The group began auditioning bassists and in the spring of 2007 brought on Sacramento native, David Snyder. Dave having an extensive log of former projects as well brought closure to what seemed to be off to a slow start. The band is currently rehearsing in Sacramento and the sounds coming from their rehearsal space are very exciting. With influences from both secular and Christian bands alike, SoulFilter longs to make something more of their music than just being another rock band in a club.
SoulFilter has made it a priority to build lasting relationships while giving a glimmer of hope to the hopeless. Each member has a story. They come from all walks of life and at one point or another in their lives each member has dealt with depression, loneliness, discontentment or anger. Each member has been at a point in their life where they can’t look anywhere but up. The joy and fullness of life that came was the result of turning to God in a time of need.
They want each person they come in contact with to experience the joy, peace, and satisfaction they’ve found in a relationship with God. That fullness of life is evident in their music and they want that to reflect in their actions on stage and off.
SoulFilter is currently finalizing a shortlist of songs as they prepare to hit the recording studio this summer. Check back for updates along the way. Updates to www.myspace/soulfiltermusic and www.soulfiltermusic.com will come often so check back soon.
