Obviously the most important component to any band or musician is the music they produce, but to get that music out there and heard, you first have to catch the attention of the listeners. How do you do this? Promotion. You build your website, intensify your myspace, design flyers and banners, shirts, stickers, even business cards. But here's the deal. Whether you realize it or not, regardless of all the promotion you're doing, you look like shit. You look like every other local band out there trying desperately to get signed. You want to put yourself in the forefront of the thousands upon thousands of other local musicians putting the same amount of work into their band as you? That's my area of damage-doing.
