Everyone wanted to be a guitar hero when I grew up (me included), but I figured out that it would be better to be headhunted to get involved in projects, than begging, so I stayed with the keyboards. (smart_ass)
Ok.. Im lying: I secretly listened to Black Sabbath and played air-guitar but was forced to take piano lessons so it was natural for me to play those damned keys when joining bands!! :) ..... ..
After some years trying and failing with the first bands I finally ended up with Tarquinia when I was 14. They were doing pub jobs and such so I had a hard time convincing my parents that it was all cool.. They even managed to keep me away from the band for a year or so, before the rebel in me was strong enough to "disrespect" their will.. In those days they would rather bring me up as a lawer or docter than a low-life-rocker.. haha... I have to mention that I have the best relationship possible with my parents.. I love and respect them deeply!
I stayed with Tarquinia for about 10years before I left them for time consuming: Luxus Leverpostei.. Even though Tarquinia (later renamed Panhead) had released some stuff, and we had done some really nice shows, I felt that they lacked the rock n roll attitude and the desperate need to get out of the garage.. I still miss the creativity and the music we made.. Some of it is really awesome!!
Im still keeping up with Luxus Leverpostei... I guess its been off and on since 96.. wow.. Time flies!! Well Luxus was not quite the International-Power-Rock-Touring-In-Jetplane-Band I had dreamt of as a kid.. They played (and are still playing) some lame-chock-party-country music.. But I loved the crazy tours we had and all the experiences :-) Its also cool to have a couple of gold records on the wall...hahaha... I`ll probably be in the band untill the day I die. Its kinda like Hotel California.. You can always enter but never leave.. We will continue to act as clowns as long as people (the rednecks :)) enjoy getting drunk at our shows. You can check out the site at www.luxusleverpostei.no ..
After I got married and moved to Skien, Norway I was welcomed as a member in a band called Anthem. We started out as a Ronnie James Dio Tribute Project. It was a perfect re-adjustment for me.. The guys really knew their instruments and we had some awesome power-chemistry.. We are still keeping the band warm but we are in the hard phase of creating our own stuff and finding a mutual path..
Check out the video I made with Anthem. I borrowed my neighbours camera and just kept on shooting.. Really fun.. The whole thing costed us about 350$!! We even got 4+ of 5 stars at the Finnish Metal site: www.imperiumi.net ..Wierd!!
I also have to mention that I found my all time friend, soulmate, and crazyheaded guitar-crusher in Anthem; Jan Erik (aka Carsten Caviar). I was quick to get him introduced to Luxus when the bass player (Stonehead) quit. Jan Erik said that he didnt give a fuck what instrument or music he played as long as he could get on tour and on a stage.. He fitted in perfectly and rest of the band loved him..
So in the spring of 06 I got a call from an old childhood friend of mine (Kelly) who had started a new band in our hometown (Emathea) .. He wanted me to go through their material to add keyboards and arrangements for their upcoming EP. I again stated that Jan Erik should be a part of the project. :-)
So we recorded our ideas at our rehearsal place, and shipped it down to the guys.. The arrangements became bigger and more crucial than we had planned.. So after the EP was finished and we had done couple of live gigs we were asked to join the band..
The chemistry in the band is great, and it seems like there is alot of things happening at the time.. So its quite an exciting experience to be involved with the guys! We have just shot a video with the band that was released 27th of december... No my neighbours camera has nothing to do with this one :-).. I have uploaded it if some of you wants to have a look ..
Heres a sum-up of the stuff Ive been involved in during my life (I cant exactly remember the right year but I shouldnt be too far off):
86 - Frontier (My first band.. I was young and probably smelled of juicy fruit and urine)
87 - Cypress (My innocent Christian period including 2 of the guys who would be the main-brains behind luxus: Bob and Dennis)
89 - Tarquinia / Panhead (The band constantly changed styles during the years from the slowest blues, to metal influenced by band such as Soundgarden and Faith No More).
93 - Heltan (The Reggae ?#"¤!? band included half the guys from Tarquinia, Kelly from Emathea and Stålull from Luxus.. The style was crap, the live shows were crap and the songs mostly sucked big time..and I guess that most of us who was involved in this project would bury its memories down in a big black pit..)
93 - Heartless (Kinda 80`s Heavy Metal.. They released the album "State of Mind" in 93.. I stayed with the band for a year or so helping out live. I also recorded a song called "The Fight" with the band wich was released on a compilation named "The Gathering".)
94 - Dead Duck Dolan (My go as a Metal Vocalist haha)
96 - Luxus leverpostei
97 - Bullit (Cool project featuring Rune Torgersen who later joined Carnivora and Roy Egeland who ended up in Zerozonic)
98 - Dennis and the Crazy Kullman Five
02 - Anthem (a tribute to Dio)
06 - Emathea
Thanks to those of you who bothered reading all my shit.. And for those of you who didnt: I dont fuckin care :)
