Spinal Tap

About Me

One of the greastest rock bands to ever step foot on the land of the america's known as "Englands loudest band" SPINAL TAP!
NIGEL TUFNEL- lead guitarist of Spinal Tap. His hobbies include collecting guitars, pontificating, and tennis. Nigel has a great love for Gumby, carrying a figurine in his shirt pocket and wearing Gumby shirts frequently. He also plays mandolin and piano, and does backing vocals. He is also a self-proclaimed "fish nut", liking cod and canned tuna.
Tufnel was born in Squatney, East London. He got his first guitar from his father at the age of six, a sunburst "Rhythm King." his life changed when he met David St Hubbins, who lived next door. They began jamming together in a toolshed in David's garden, influenced by early blues artists like Honkin' Bubba Fulton, Little Sassy Francis and particularly Big "Little Daddy" Coleman - a deaf guitar player.
Soloing Techniques: Using a violin, Kicking another guitar, Classical music inspired solos, Turning amps to 11, which is 1 louder, isn't it?,
Quotes: "You can't really dust for vomit", "These [amps] go to eleven", "Mach", "What are the hours?", "It's like how much more black could this be? And the answer is none, none more black",
DEREK SMALLS- is the bass player for Spinal Tap. He co-starred in the hit rockumentary This is Spinal Tap with guitarists Nigel Tufnel and David St. Hubbins , as well as with a plethora of drummers and keyboardists. He has one solo album, Its a Smalls World.
Smalls played killer ..1 in Marco Zamboni's Roma '79. He is also a prize-winning gardener, having developed and patented a totally black rose, the Death by Midnight. He was also part of the Christian rock band Lambsblood and the star of a series of comical Belgian television commercials for the snack food Floop.
The name Derek Smalls appears to come from the cover of the Jethro Tull album Thick as a Brick. The newspaper format of this album cover featured satirical classified ads including an ad for a 4' divan bed, and the offer of a "Dwarf for Rent" both of which instructed the reader to "Contact Derek Small."
DAVID ST. HUBBINS- the lead singer and co-lead guitarist of Spinal Tap, which became most well known after the rockumentary This Is Spinal Tap came out in 1984.
St. Hubbins was born August 13, 1943, in Squatney, London, UK. He grew up in Squatney in flat ..45. Fellow Spinal Tap band member Nigel Tufnel lived next door in flat ..47. They didnt know each other at first. At age 7 and 8, the new friends Nigel and David began their musical adventure together. David says: We left school and started playing Tube station skiffle. It was like the filings feel about a magnet. We were the filings, Spinal Tap became the magnet. They recorded the first song they wrote together in 1961: All the Way Home.
After his first divorce, St. Hubbins was married to his longtime girlfriend, Jeanine Pettibone. They moved to Pomona, California, where they where they opened two boutiquerias. They were divorced in early 2000 and remained on friendly terms. David credits Jeanine, and her love of astrology, with getting his cosmically challenged life back in order. In an interview with David and Jeanine, David said, Before I met Jeanine my life was cosmically in shambles. His relationship with Jeanine causes some turbulence in the band, especially when she becomes the bands manager toward the end of the tour documented in This Is Spinal Tap. According to the movie, David has a son.
Quotes: Dozens of people spontaneously combust each year. Its just not really widely reported., I believe virtually everything I read, and I think that is what makes me more of a selective human, than someone who doesnt believe anything., Well, Im sure Id feel much worse if I werent under such heavy sedation., I was too old to rock and roll at 19. Fortunately, Ive gotten younger since then.,
