Angel Andrés Muñoz
(1970, Córdoba, AndalucÃa-Spain)Spanish musician Angel Andrés Muñoz has established himself as one of the most versatile artists of his generation. Having started piano at seven years of age at Superior Music Conservatory in Córdoba, Angel Andrés received his bachelor´s degree at the age of 17 with highest assessments and Outstanding Award End of Career. After that, he studied a postgraduate course with the prestigious spanish pianist Joseph Maria Colom. As competition pianist he has partnered several prize-winners at national and international competitions: “Clara Haskil†in Switzerland, “Ataulfo Argenta†in Santander, “Infanta Cristina†in Madrid.He moved to Boston to study at the New England Conservatory. He also received classes at Berklee School of Music and Manhattan School of Music (Kenny Barron and Ran Blake). Back to Spain, he worked with some prestigious jazz musicans, like Carles Benavent, Salvador Niebla, Guillermo McGill, Tino di Geraldo, Joseph Mas Kitflus, and so on. He founded with Susana Raya “Qu Jazzâ€, awarded in Granada Jazz Festival as the “Best Spanish Groupâ€.Above all, Angel Andrés has a passionate interest in the development of the fusion between jazz and flamenco, creating differents projects, recording several albums as a lider, and performing in multitude of national and international festivals (I European Jazz Festival in Athens). He combines his performing with teaching at the flamenco-jazz department in Superior Music Conservatory in Córdoba, unique in Spain, creating a new approach to both styles.In addition to this active performing career with his own jazz groups, Angel Andrés has got a intense activity in classical music. Since 1988 he has been on the piano accompanying staff in the Superior Music Conservatory in Córdoba, He is also very involved in opera productions, as accompanying piano player and conductor (Rigoletto, La Traviata, Carmen, Tosca, Madame Butterfly, Don Giovanni,..), having worked with very well-known artist like Plácido Domingo and at prestigious places like Liceo de Barcelona. Angel Andrés appears regularly in the spanish classical scene, as opera, orchestral and soloist pianist. He has got a solid experience as classical and modern arranger and composer, participating in multitude of succesful andalusian productions.
