The "Brainstorming "sound is different , innovative and daring . Full of nuances , contrasts and colours but , perhaps, the word "Energy" is the magic word for this group which was received with great success by the critics and public at the last International Festivals of Jazz in Marbella and Málaga. as was their first recording , "Impressions" which was presented recently in Javier Dominguez Canal Sur radio programme "El Boulevard de Jazz".......... Rafael guila Graduated from the National School of Art in Cuba with a degree in saxophone and flute studies and was Director and arranger for the Big Band of the same institute . Has shared the stage with musicians such as Davilo Perez , Yovani Idalgo , Antonio Hart and Chucho Valdez in several jazz festivals in Cuba . Has worked also with the Zaragoza Big Band ,formed from members of Irakere, and has arranged for the group Sintesis , a Cuban band widely known which creates a perfect fusion between jazz and Afro- Cuban music . At present in Spain , he works with the formation led by pianist Diego Suarez and composes and arranges for his own quintet . ............................................................ ..... Pancho Brañas:When sixteen years old , enrolled in the Conservatorio Superior de Musica in Cordoba where he studied percussion , saxophone and piano for three years . Later he went to study drumming for one year at the Music workshop in Barcelona and in Madrid the following year . Subsequently , travelled to Havana , Cuba, where he stayed for a year studying drums and percussion .Returned to Spain and followed the full course in percussion at the Coservatorio Superior in Cordoba . At the same time during these years , he has worked as a drummer and percussionist with various groups and musicians with styles as varied as Rock , Jazz , Pop , Flamenco , Africano , Latino and classical music . Presently devotes most of his time to his own work, although often works with session musicians in the studio and artistes and groups such as Raul Alcover , Suhaili , Helena Bugedo , Pati Pami , Enrique Moratalla ,Fran y Fede , Diego Suarez Trio , David Defries , Franc O€?Shea amongst others ............................................................ .........José Antonio Serrano:His first contacts with music were with rock music , playing the electric guitar at the age of thirteen . Soon changed the guitar for the electric bass , leaning towards other types of music such as jazz rock and jazz fusion . At seventeen , was already a professional combining work with his studies at Malaga€™s Conservatorio Musica , which studies were later given up in search of new musical experiences and taken up again , at the age of twenty , in the music workshop of Malaga , under the direction of Ricardo Ferrer , where he developed his great interest in the double bass and jazz music .Has played different styles of music including the tango with the €œTango al Sur€? Orchestra and the flamenco singer €œEl Cabrero€? with whom he recorded on the compilation disc of the Cumbre Mundial de Tango festival in Granada . Has worked with the classical flamenco company €œSimon el Rubio€? making tours in Europe and China , blues groups such as Richard Ray Farrell and jazz with the Eric Hitchcock Quartet . He has also played with hip hop groups such as Fulano and Cuban music with the pianist Daniel Amat . Since 1992 , he has been a founder member of the Coastline Dixielanders ............................................................ ............ Diego Suarez:Born in Ronda , Malaga , in 1972 , he started his musical studies at the age of six, finishing his studies of piano and music with the highest qualifications . In 1991 , obtained the post of professor at the Conservatorio of Malaga after sitting a competitive examination . In 1993 , was selected to represent Spain in a contest for young European musicians set in Brussels .In the same year he made contact with jazz music , becoming a founder member of the traditional jazzband , the Coastline Dixielanders , with whom he has recorded three times , appeared on Spanish Television and played at many important Spanish and European jazz festivals . Has participated in the permanent seminar organized by the Malaga Musicians Workshop with pianist Barry Harris and also at the international jazz seminar in Cadiz , receiving tuition from Dave Santoro , Renato Chicco and Gerry Bergonzi . Has performed with numerous jazz groups , sharing the stage with musicians of the calibre of Bruce Adams , Alan Barnes ,Perico Sambeat , Alan Skidmore , Stratos Vaugas , Francis Pose , Carlos Pino , Celia Mur , Tommy Whittle and Pedro Cortejosa amongst others . Recent performances include the formation of the Diego Suarez Trio which played at the last two International Jazz Festivals in Marbella , accompanying the saxophonist Pedro Cortejosa at the Tangier Festival and , at the Birmingham Jazz festival , accompanying such figures in British jazz as saxophonist Alan Barnes and the trumpeter Bruce Adams .
