About Me

Profile courtesy of MySpace LayoutsIn addition to his many music and songwriting ventures, Michael is a theatre vet having worked in various regional theatres, National and European Tours, and productions on and off Broadway. He has written and recorded original music for many artists including BJ Crosby, Roz White, Gioia Bruno, and others. Upon leaving his post as artistic director for the Flatiron Theatre Company in NYC in 02 where he directed successful revivals of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Whose Life Is It Anyway?", "Bent", and "The Shadow Box", Mr. Doane began work on his stage musical "The Soul Kitchen" and various projects for the screen. His screenplay "Wide Awake in Dreamland", a romantic thriller with music, was a finalist for the 2007 Page Awards. In addition, he recently completed rewrites on another original feature, a contemporary adaptation of Euripide's "Medea" titled "M", and a tv sitcom about two rival chefs titled "Stir It Up". Other work includes the Paramount/Vantage Ben Stiller film "The Marc Pease Experience" (vocals and voice over); the Blake House Media documentary "From the 50 Yard Line" (original song "I'll Take You There"); and the American Idol Songwriter's Competition where his song "Close to Me" was selected as one of the top twenty finalists out of 30,000+ submissions. And this fall, Michael will hold further staged readings of "The Soul Kitchen" at the DR2 Theatre in NYC
