About Me

AWARDS2008 Finalist in the Tipperary "Song of Peace" Songwriting Competition for the Tipperary Peace Convention"The Tipperary Peace Convention, held in Tipperary Town, Tipperary, Ireland, honors a Peace Prize recipient every year, as well as selects a song of peace. Our song, "If Only For Today," (written by Nancy Vogl, Leslie Bowe and Geoff Thurman) has been selected as one of ten finalists for the "International Song of Peace," and Les will be performing the song at the Grand Finals on April 26, 2008. Benazir Bhutto has been named the Peace Prize recipient posthumously, and members of her family are expected to attend the convention to receive the award on her behalf.Grand Prize Winner - 2007 StageNoise International Songwriting Contest for the Beautiful Song "Here I Am"If Nancy Vogl could be anything in the world, she’d be a philanthropist and a humanitarian on a grand scale. In the meantime, her way of offering to this planet is through her writing. Nancy is an award-winning author, writer, professional speaker, consultant and entrepreneur - and her great thrill and privilege is guiding and inspiring others. Nancy also owned a nationwide speakers bureau and worked with hundreds of celebrities, authors and professional speakers for over 15 years. In addition to writing books, etc., Nancy now adds writing lyrics to her long list of passions. With her very first song ever, "HERE I AM," written in April, 2007 with her talented son-in-law, singer-songwriter, LESLIE BOWE, Nancy is proving that it's "never too late to pursue your dreams...no matter how old you are!"The beautiful soaring ballad, "HERE I AM" was the 2007 Grand Prize winner in the StageNoise International Songwriting Contest in Australia. The song was initially written specifically for the American Idol Songwriting Contest, which was submitted along with 25,000 other entries. While it didn't win the Idol contest it did receive a great deal of praise nationwide - and was also selected, along with nine other songs, to be on the CD "Hits They Missed - Songs Not Fit For An Idol...or So They Say."Nancy was so inspired by the success of her first song that she has since written lyrics for many songs, covering the gamut from Country, Pop, and Adult Contemporary to R & B, Rock and Gospel.Nancy is also the author, along with her daughter Heidi Cole, of the award-winning, stunningly beautiful, multicultural children's book, "AM I A COLOR TOO." Inspired by her grandson, Tyler, it is the recipient of SIX national awards and honors for Best Children's book and Best Multicultural book. Nancy is also the coauthor of "CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SINGLE PARENT'S SOUL," and the author of the nationwide bestseller, "WHY GRANDPA RIDES A HARLEY," an illustrated children's book.In addition to her writing, Nancy speaks to organizations and women's groups, but especially loves speaking to children in schools, sharing the message that "who we are as human beings has nothing to do with the color of our skin." It's a message of acceptance, love, possibilities and hope.BTW...Nancy has four grown daughters, and is the proud grandmother of two grandsons and nine step-grandchildren. And she is married to the ever-handsome David Strange.

Music:

Band Website: http://www.nancyvogl.com
Band Members: Nancy is the lyricist in an unusual songwriting duo: She writes with her son-in-law, the talented singer-songwriter LESLIE BOWE (can you believe it?...a son and mother-in-law actually working well together!). She also manages Les' music career. One of the producers at Harpo Productions recently pronounced Nancy a "momager." And that just about sums it up. She books Les and is helping to shape his career...as well as fold the laundry, cook, clean AND walk the dog. And she wouldn't have it any other way!
Influences: MUSICAL INFLUENCES: Motown, Whitney Houston, Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, Luther Vandross, Carole Bayer Sager, Diane Warren, Louis Armstrong, Curtis Stigers, Etta James, Sam Cooke, George Bensen, Lou Rawls, Michael McDonald, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Percy Sledge, Anita Baker, Natalie Cole, Patsy Cline, Aaron Neville, Tony Bennett, Smokey Robinson, Al Jarreau, Al Green, Barry White, Otis Redding, Van Morrison, Queen Latifah, Donny Hathaway, Jimmy Ruffin, Norah Jones...just to name a few! ON THE MOTIVATIONAL and INSPIRATIONAL SIDE, as a former agent, I've been blessed to know and work with some amazing speakers, authors and celebrities. The ones that have had the greatest influence on me: The late Og Mandino, my mentor and dear friend; the incredible Dr. Wayne Dyer, the first speaker I ever worked with; the masterful Les Brown; Michael Wickett, an amazing speaker who first taught me the power of forgiveness; Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, whom I booked on his 93rd birthday for an event I produced..and many, many more. I believe because of my background in speaking and writing, especially from a standpoint of inspiration, I've been able to translate uplifting and positive messages into beautiful and thought-provoking lyrics.
