Tiffany Lowe

Tiffany Lowe is more than a pretty face. She has worked as an assistant director and makeup artist on numerous music videos and commercials. Based in Los Angeles she is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist with talent so innate it seems beyond nature. This is hardly surprising when one realizes where Tiffany copped her chops. She is in direct lineage of the first family of country music and her list of relatives reads like a whos who of 20th century popular music. Her great-grandmother was Mother Maybelle Carter of the Carter Family, who in 1927 made a series of recordings that would later come to define the entire genre of country music. Maybelles daughter June went on to marry honky-tonk hero Carl Smith and later Johnny Cash. June and Carls daughter Carlene Carter gave birth to Tiffany at the age of 16 and later married British pub rocker and pop-rock legend Nick Lowe, who adopted Tiffany and moved her to London at an early age. All artists are the sum of a variety of influences and with Tiffanys heritage, one can easily identify certain influential threads. She writes catchy and compact, slightly punk, three chord pop rockers with melodies that immediately graft themselves onto ones memory bank. She is a frill-free and to-the-point lyricist, accusing all (including herself) of human frailty. A uniquely promising artist indifferent to trends, Tiffany hasnt (to borrow a phrase) gotten above her raising. To hear her is to not only hear musical history, but also the timeless expression of raw emotion through the art of song.
