I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Really, I don't expect anyone to care enough to read this, as I'm not that fascinating. But here goes - I live in Phoenix, Arizona, I love it here. I work as a consultant in health care IT, and I love that as well. My entire family lives here, that's all of 3 people - my mom, my sister and my brother. I usually love them. My dogs are Lucy, Princess and Patches - I always love them. I also have the best human friends in the world. I'm generally a happy person, but like everyone I get a little cranky sometimes, like now. Yeah, I figured that makes this is a great time to write a myspace profile.

My Interests

Traveling anywhere new. I want to go everywhere eventually. Except perhaps parts of the middle east. Saudi Arabia, for example - I'd end up on chop-chop square before noon of the second day. Stoned. And not in a good way. Best to stay away.

I get involved in politics (Democratic) when I can stand it. Since Bush has been in office I find it's better for my blood pressure not to think about it as often as I used to. I think I reached a point a few years back where I'm just disgusted and perhaps the optimism and passion for politics will return one day.

Also, I LOVE women's basketball and GO PHOENIX MERCURY!

I'd like to meet:

Others with similar interests, new friends.

Music:

My tastes are varied, I am a fan of almost all types of music, though I have to admit that I don't "get" most rap, and as a rule I'm not a fan of country music. I love alternative and rock the most.

Movies:

Contact, Star Wars, Bob Roberts, Dr. Strangelove, The Shawshank Redemption, 28 Days Later, many more. I've just seen these again recently so they're on my mind.

Television:

House, The Office (UK and US versions, though the UK version is first in my heart), Extras, The Simpsons, Scrubs, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Arrested Development, Reno 911, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Boston Legal, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report.

Books:

Favorite authors include Carl Sagan & Ann Druyan, Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, William Gibson, Neil Stephensen, Christopher Moore, John Irving.

Heroes:

I'll need to think about this one a bit. Martin Luther King, obviously. Rosa Parks - definitely. I don't care *what* Cedric The Entertainer said in that Barber Shop movie, I would not have had the courage to say "no" on that bus, and I don't think that most people would. Susan B. Anthony was an incredible woman as well, and I know that were it not for her, my experience of life would be quite different. And I would quite like to be like Ann Richards was (RIP, Ann). Elanor Roosevelt.

My Blog

Yay!!!

Oh, me of little faith! My Devils did it. Wheee! Now I don't have to deal with any flack from my Wildcat fan friends.

<Groan>

Oh, boy. Got a bad feeling about the Devils/Cats game tomorrow. This does not sound very good. However, it is a rivalry based upon a rather special kind of hatred, so all bets are off. Still, I do...

I love it!

The ad banners prolaiming that I can "Meet Phoenix men who make $100K + yearly!"  Oh, boy!  How insulting.  Seriously.  I require at least $300K.  Really, how long will ...

What drives me nuts

Those constant messages from Myspace telling me that I have new messages, and I don't!  I have a horrible feelng that I'm not getting messages.  It says that I have 5 in my inbox, none of wh...

Finished the first swipe

at a rough draft of specs for an interface today - I feel so great about that. Martin and I collaborated on it, and considering the small amount of information that we had to work with, I think we di...

Ouch

Well, ow. I seem to have pulled my back, I blame last Saturday's vidfest with my best friend Evita. We were watching a DVD from Region 2, and my region-free DVD player is, uh, no longer with me (see...

Sick

One of these day I really need to make time to have my damned tonsils removed. It's just not a very nice sounding proposition. What i've read of the surgery sounds horrible. The stupid things still...

What

is up with Andy and the bulletins? For a fictional character, he's awfully freakin' busy with the urban dictionary. Mind you, it's amusing.
