Take a group of enthusiastic filmmakers. Challenge them to create original short films every month, on little to no budgets; take away the reliance on funding, the stifling months of planning and scheduling, the egos, and you have a stimulating, energetic approach to short filmmaking.
We call it Kino.
Kino first began in Montreal and since then the message has spread to where there are now Kino cells all over the world. When five representatives from the original Kino group in Montreal visited Adelaide for the 2005 Adelaide Film Festival, 'Kino Madness' took hold in this city and KinoAdelaide was born!
We are an eclectic group comprising of filmmakers, musicians, actors, and anyone who is as excited as we are by the Kino philosophy of filmmaking. Just as we strive for freedom of participation, we also strive for freedom of content - documentaries, essays, shorts on current events, art films, animations...
