"You will have a happy new year if DJ Unwind is on your '07 playlist."
- David Ross, okayplayer.com
Drawing heavily from Hip Hop and other genres, there is added influence from his father’s record collection, containing everything from Tony Bennett to Al Green to the Eagles. A mixture of childhood memories and big-city stars, his musical inspiration is eclectic to say the least. Soul Music has always been a major influence, taking cues from artists like D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, Maxwell, and Dwele. Unwind also looks up to his Hip Hop icons: Hi-Tek, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Jay Dee and Organized Noize...
DJ Unwind produces for male and female vocalists in his genre. Staying loyal to Soul, R&B and Hip Hop but ambitious in his collaborations, his diverse and dynamic style can mutate with every new project and still remain recognizable as his own. He works with a wide range of artists, breaking barriers and amplifying the voices he wants others to hear. Unwind is quickly gaining recognition with "Truth Beyond the Beat"; the laid back and cohesive album has given him notoriety in the US and around the world, and having paired with Tokyo’s Libyus Distribution, his sphere of influence continues to grow. The album hit Japanese stores on August 29th, 2007
"I want people to be motivated by my music the way I have been motivated by others. I can only create a soundtrack based on my life experiences...my music is how I express my views of the world."
