About Me

Get Your Own! | View SlideshowOutlaw first recognised his passion for music at a young age. In the 1980s, his interest in dance music stemmed from watching the classic films Breakdance and Beat Street. Outlaw began his music collection by buying up the Electro records. After the Electro years, a new kind of music exploded onto the scene, Acid House along with the pirates. Outlaw knew that this was the scene he wanted to break into. The natural progression of music developed into Hardcore then to Jungle, which inspired him to buy a pair of old battered 1200s, and start mashing up base lines. In addition to working with Dj Wize, Outlaw is also working with various artists within the UK Hiphop scene trying to push message music. www.Fulleblunt.comDj wize first started buying records in 1992, listening to the likes of Prodigy whilst playing an active part in his band, playing lead guitar. He first started learning to mix whilst doing a sound engineering course at college and after four years of buying records had a great excuse to buy his first set of Technics. Drum and Bass took over as the dominant music style in his mixing as a logical progression from the Hardcore he already had.It was in '96 when he joined forces with old school mate Dj Outlaw, and they started their first pirate radio station RAW 103 fm, which obviously didn't last too long but proved to be a benchmark from which they would work in future projects. After getting a set on the world famous FLEX 103.6 fm they went on to manage the station where they heightened their dj'ing profile. They played at event's such as, One Nation, Traffic, Trouble on Vinyl, The Old Skool House, Total Hypnosis, Trip to the Moon and secured a residency at the Chunnel Club. They have even travelled as far as Bulgaria for event's with the Ruud Awakening crew.As for musical style, OIutlaw and Wize have never been a the kind of dj's you could put into any catorgory, notorious for playing what they want to play rather than following trends in drum and bass they have earned a repution for being truely individual in their selection. Between them they have a huge selection of records ranging from Acid House to Hip-Hop to Hardcore right through to the freshest Drum and Bass. They have been championing the liquid sound right from day one even when and especially when the more melodic side of drum and bass was seen as a weak alternative.2006 will see Outlaw and Wize both returning to the studio and using thier hard earned qualifications in engineering to to finish projects they have started and bring some new drum and bass flavours under the guise of PHUTURE SOUNDZ productions. With several potential releases under their belts they are ready to contribute to the scene and and push their own musical boundries......staylocked to the south london pirates! plain layout @ http://www.freeuniquelayouts.com/ - Movie Layouts - Music Layouts - More MySpace Layouts! - MySpace Tools

After another zigzag across the heart of the city, I reached the club about 6, slightly hidden away I walk in, check the sound, first things that hit me, nice clean bass n treble, find Matt from Midi Mafia, linked with this guy through Henus on Saturday night, grab drinks and go sit out the back... Matt is telling me about the groove inside, bringing all the newcomers out on stage and on the decks, getting them heard, head nodding to the deep bass vibes coming from inside. Lots of people setting up cameras and chatting about the scene, such a wicked vibe going on, Brazilian barbeque, well organised.. First live band up... Step 13 Quality tight beats, and a well mixed instrumental section with female vocals and a Henus MC, what more can we ask for, the floor packs out, heads nodding, bodies shaking, feeling the live vibe, got me shivering straight away. Humbled to see such talent only 4 feet away. Everyone inside showing respect and support for Step 13 as they made there way through their set, a complete mixture of light, medium and heavy DnB, some real phat bass that you couldn't miss, even if you were standing down at London bridge!!! To top their set off they performed a live version of the lighter choon which then blended into champion sounds, OMG, LIVE inside... taking it down to hear the crowd giving maximum support, if its all of this quality we're in for a good night and few more nights by the sound of it. Next up the Outlaw from the Flex crew gives us a taste of some fresh dnb flava's keeping everyone in happy mood that I've not seen at an event for a long time. More people arriving to come and see whats going on. Hottest day in the UK but still people turning up to support. While the Outlaw rinses the system jay the drummer starts his onslaught, I can't respect this man enough for what he's doing, outlaw cutting the sound to let the drummer play, absolute quality, working together...Time for the next Live Act Keiretsu Ok this group consists of 13 people, proper mixture of styles, all blended safely and seamlessly into 1 amazing set. More of a Jazz'n'bass style, well structured and sounding crystal all the way through, everyone feeling the saxophone solo. Realizing my poor quality camera has messed up and getting pretty irate with it I had to give up taking pictures because I needed to hear this. I have to recommend this to anyone who is dedicated to their drum and bass and want to hear a truly impressive alternative to a heavy event. Mc's, drummers, sax player, violinist and many other instruments all creating a phat sound worth listening too, again what amazing talent. Okay, Line up Line up, its the MC contest, our host miss trouble rallies up the crowd and Mc's and the contest starts. Some proper battling going on inside, 6 very different styles of Mc'ing all completely unique, Confidence and passion flow from these guys, feeling the DnB beats in the background and making the crowd respond to their lyrical expertise. Only 3 left after this round, finals after the next band. Next up, what can I say - dust21 MC Ultan kept the crowd up, again a tight performance from another live band, female vocalist Lady J and Ultan in harmony with each other, working the lyrics, we were privileged to hear a tribute to Roni Size, played with finesse and style through to the end. Onto some more amazing, clear and well laid out beats that got everyone in the place bouncing around.Big appreciation shown to these guys as they performed their set, complete harmony from the whole band, we hope to see all these bands again very soon!!! Moving on for the final MC battle with Mickey Finn on the tables, there was a show down between Maestro and Maria, omg, that voice, everyone was feeling it, both these guys killed it, amazing Mc'ing from Maestro, and vocals from Maria that made me shiver all the way through. At the end the crowd voted for MC Maestro, these two proved their skills and earnt all the respect they got. Next up Mickey Finn's turn to spin some choons, the floor got busy to a nice selection of summer style dnb, still a raging temperature inside, Miss Trouble keeping the crowd bubbling as the Finn laid down his selection. Time seemed to be moving too quickly. One of my personal favourites next, Bryan G, what can I say, I'd been at Fabric on Friday and seen him smash it so I was looking forward to his mini set and as usual he smashed it. A Henus selection of fresh choons being played, names of which I still can't find, finally the last choon, nobody wanted this to end and I think they cut the power to the sound which hurts because you know its over. Lights on and the security using cushions to push everyone out...Well what can I say, big appreciation to Paul & John @ Midimafia for this event, best atmosphere I've seen in time, thank you to Matt (IZM) for inviting me, it was all very good, excellent hosts who are very accommodating. Friendly bar and door staff, Brazilian BBQ, free water with ice in it (much appreciated), donations to charity (www.warchild.org.uk), exceptionally talented artists, dj's and mc's + Jay in a league of his own, a real happy vibe, and all for £7, you can't ask for more surely. We arrived @ the mean fiddler at around 9pm, ready for some serious talent to be shown on the stage by the bands, DJs and mcs. I love that feeling you get when you reach the club, you can hear the bass lines inside the venue shaking window fixings and doors, getting that wicked sensation inside because you know that in a few minutes youll be in the zone!!I had no idea what the mean fiddler would be like, I must say I am well impressed, its the perfect venue nicely done out, very nice sound system and a friendly crowd already inside. Myself and Killa-b got ourselves a spot and watched DJ IZM spin the beats. What a quality little set, Ive never heard him play before but have been chatting to him for ages about it all.Really nice to hear a DJ playing different beats, with a very different mixing style to most. Some nice funky beats, but also some real dark rollers, blended into a set that sounded well matched cant wait to listen to him again!!Ultra Violet!!! I am always stuck for words to explain what Ive seen when it touches me so deep, music is one of the only things that does all I can say is revenge !!Anyone who was there knows what Im talking about, this group really put their heart and soul into the music, a real phat upbeat sound that I hadnt expected to hear performed live. This group seriously could have rocked any DnB crowd, it was well appreciated by the people inside the venue. Every one of the band members was submersed in the music, playing their instruments with heart and soul.It gets noticed!!! Huge energy on stage!Flex Crew Time for some beats while the next band set themselves up, a truly wicked venue, very well set up considering the time the crew had to sort this out John and Paul need maximum respect for this one!DJs Outlaw and Wise played some well mixed drum and bass, working with the MCs Contact and Trouble MC, setting a nice atmosphere, everyone getting involved and having a good time. Got to talk to IZM, Paul and John the guys that run it, such a sound crowd in this event, everyone in there for the music, not something you see very often anymore I really hope this becomes a regular event!EPOC I swear in all my life Ive never been so touched by a voice even writing this makes me well up, this group, just 4 people, cool as the arctic, touched every ones soulI stood in front of the stage with my camera for the whole set, the drummer was amazing to watch, shifting pace without dropping a beat, 1 man catering for the ambience and bass line of the songs, then a male mc and female vocalist called Maria!!I was welling up in front of the stage, the voice of an angel I swear, and it doesnt just penetrate your ears and awareness it takes over your whole person, provoking huge emotional rushes all to the sounds of drum and bass, could you want anymore? If you want to see live drum and bass, look no further than this event it will amaze you and surprise you, anyone who has seen any of these bands perform before will verify this!Flex Crew Time for some more beats from the Flex crew alongside Trouble MC, its great to watch these guys work together, they know when to cut the beats to let the MCs hype up the crowd, just standing back and watching everyone get into it Im seriously hoping this works out as a regular event, they have a good crowd, very supportive. The mean fiddlers sound system pays tribute to the talent too, every artist, DJ, MC and engineer at this event is 100% devoted to what they are doing, and it really shows!Step 13 Time for the headliners the second time I have seen them play and wow what can I say each one of these bands has their own style and flavour, their own way of projecting their love onto the crowd. Step 13 surprised me yet again, playing a well pieced together set that was certainly different to the last one, Lauren on vocals is always one to go and see, they share the same passion as every other band that played.A very laid back style, relaxed and confident with what they are doing, and they should be too, it sounded brilliant. We got the tribute thought, lighter and champion sound tribute performed live what more can I say?Unfortunately I couldnt even fit the whole band on my camera!!!!!!I cant praise all of these bands enough, they are all good, they all have their own styles and they all show their passion for drum and bass lets be seeing more of them!Back to the DJs now with Jay-on-Drums, if you havent heard of Jay then I suggest you get down to one of these events this guy is amazing to watch and hear, Killa-b got talking to him at the event, he has taken on Drum and Bass as its more of a challenge what a bonus.. We swear he looses 5 stone per event keep eating jay!!!So again a night of pure talent from every corner you cant ask for more at an event seriously. I love going out to the big dos but Id come down to the mean fiddler at the drop of a hat because it is well worth seeing. Its not expensive to get in, drinks are reasonably priced, and the vibe is worth being part of, you never know who you are going to meet!!!!
Influences: Our influences range from the old skool electro sounds of the eighties through to the kind of tunes you will hear us play on the radio and out in clubs. Early acid house, hardcore and jungle all rightly play thier place in our music collection but we dont consider ourselves to be narrow minded as we have a broad collection of music between us.
