The meat industry injects antibiotics into the animals because of the confined environments where the poor things are forced to live. They are then given hormones to grow and produce at a very rapid pace in the factory farms (broken legs from the excess weight in chickens and ducks), then, in turn, the meat industry (organic meat excluded)is more than happy to allow US eat this 'dirty' meat! CEO Randy Strauss himself said veal crates are "inhumane and archaic." *** NOTE: American Veal Association (AVA) voted to phase out the notoriously cruel veal crate confinement system and replace them with group housing systems. Measuring just 2 feet wide and allowing no freedom of movement, veal crates have been long considered one of the cruelest institutions in factory farming.
