Well, just a bit of info about me:
I grew up in Eastern Oregon, Baker City to be exact. It is a small farming town, growing, but small. I had a pretty good childhood. I was able to hike, camp, fish, hunt and pretty much do anything the great outdoors had to offer. I actually lived about 30 miles outside of Baker, with the hills and mountain lakes right out my back door. Many an adventure was had with just me and my dog at the time.
My parents are very kind and generous people with big hearts. I learned alot from them. It is amazing how with age people learn to respect what lessons parents were teaching, and how those lessons are carried out in our daily routines today. My father built the house I grew up in. Pretty amazing, tho I took it for granted while growing up in it. That place will always be home for me.
I grew up with my brother Kelley. We had many good times growing up together. I used to pick on him quite much until he outgrew me...well I don't pick on him anymore. hehehe I recently met my sister for the first time about 10 years ago. I had known that I had a sister out there somewhere, and when she found our family it was quite an emotional time. I try to spend as much time as I can with my bro and sis. They are excellent people.
I had several close friends in Baker, being a small town it was the kids who lived closest to me in the sticks. I have lost touch with many of them, but the memories of the times we had will always remain. In my teens I began traveling away from Baker a bit...mananaged to venture to the bustling emerald city of Boise. (er actually not so bustling, but when you're from a small town it sure does seem so) I made quite a few new friends in that town and spent many a weekend at their place in Boise. We shared a love for electronic music...thump...thump...thump...
...I went to my first party NY's eve 1997 in SLC Utah, and OMG! What a life changing experience. Nothing could ever top that, I thought. Then I began DJing in the beginning of 1998; oh how I was wrong...in the mix and picking tracks that go together "soooo well" comes pretty close to euphoria. I love to play music, my family is very musically-inclined, but I am the only one in my family especially drawn to "rave music".
February of 2002 was monumental for myself as I became fully aware of where my experiences with the TempleOfSound were taking me. My first album, as well as the first release for ToSR "InspiredNobility" set in motion the beauty that has been following since.
Working with community as well as the harmonic elders has proven to be an intense journey. After starting two weekly clubnights (Devotion and Devoted) which keep me busy almost round the clock, I realize that I really am in this for the music. And the love of it. The weekly nights have been taking off, with each night bringing the vibe we search for. I have met many excellent djs as well as have made many great friends in this journey.
In Feb. 2005 I threw an event called Paradise (see slideshow) featuring John Kelly. The event was amazing! Will be having him back soon. 2006, I brought Deepsky back to Portland and they tore off the roof! I have yet to post pictures of this event but will.
I am currently managing a restaurant; Cameo Cafe West (www.cameocafewest.com) and loving it!! It is only a way of sustainability while pursuing my musical interests.
Our weekly clubnight Devotion (Wednesday nights at Fez Ballroom (www.fezballroom.com) is still going strong! Wow 4 wonderful years.
I find myself a caring patient individule. I am always striving to put a smile on someone's face. Yes, I do get down and frustrated, but really feel that laughter and good vibes heal all.
I endured a blow early on in my move to Portland. In 2001 I was diagnosed with testicular cancer, to which I responded with a "srug" and a what do I do to get over it. After almost a year of Chemotherapy, when I was finally told I was "ok", I moved on from that part of my life. Mindset is the only way to survive an ordeal like that. It simply wasn't my time, and I knew it in my soul. Too much to do here on this plane.
I also have many other struggles that I contend with every day, some of which I won't mention here, but always will be truthful to anyone who is interested on knowing more.
I live to love, and love to live. All I have to say is WOOT!!I will write more as I can. Stay tuned for updates and future events!!
