Vinyl Raccoon Recording Studio was founded in 2004 by Gene Anderson with the help of Jim Green and Ed Auletta. Built from the ground up, with concrete & acoustical foam, it is a recording studio like no other. Our focus was simple- an incredibly clean signal and sound without that "over polished" and uncomfortable atmosphere. With our years of experience as musicians and engineers, we have all worked and played alike in many different recording studios and clubs. Vinyl Raccoon was designed to be something different from those places- a sort of "clubhouse" for bands. The studio was built large enough to handle the size of most bands while keeping the feel private and close-knit.
Using our combined knowledge of DAW software, we began recording single tracks. We found we could achieve a surprisingly good recording with minimal equipment. We then set our sights on the bigger target of upgrading our digital recording equipment- featuring Macs, Motu Digital Interfaces, a wide variety of tube & digital pre-amps, DBX compressors, AKG & Shure mics and much, much more- in order to obtain the cleanest possible sounds while maintaining low costs. After recording many local artists these past few years, we've gotten great recordings and very positive feedback from the artists and listeners alike.
When not busy recording projects here in New Jersey, you'll find Ed in San Francisco running Pirates Press Records as well as pushing Pirates Press Manufacturing Company, that is when he's not recording or mastering a project. Jim is our in-house engineer and our studio drummer. He records a number of local Hip Hop artists as well as rock acts and is always looking to take on a new project. Gene is constantly working to improve the studio while recording many local artists with unique and diverse styles. So if you're looking for a great recording on a musician's budget, then drop us a line at
