About Me

Myspace BackgroundsNot sure what to put here. Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies?I am a MilitaryBrat...USAF Retired. I have lived in three countries, one province, five states, sixteen towns and just moved into my 41st house. I am a Texan. Okay, so I wasnt born here, but that wasnt my fault. I blame Uncle Sam (aka USAF) for that one. I do have seven generations of Texans standing firmly behind me. Sometimes its a lot to live up to, but most of the time I marvel at how they survived those early pioneer days.I am a lyrics junkie when it comes to music. I collect folk songs and have about a dozen folders with lyrics to traditional songs. I own a dulcimer, five tinwhistles and a bodhran (an Irish drum) which I play with what can best be described as reckless abandon and am always surfing online for traditional tunes to try out on the whistle and dulcimer.

My Interests

Music. Books. History. Travel. I can usually be found online hanging out on the PalTalk chat program. I am a trivia addict, so look for me in the triv rooms on Pal. If I am not there, I am probably chilling with some of the other crazies in The Joot, Herbie's Hamburger Hut or Sunday Night on Pal with Cams and Whatever(even if it isnt night, Sunday or there are no cams)

I'd like to meet:

You and you. And yeah, even you.

Music:

Yes! I like most anything. I listen to country most of the time, preferring the oldies station over the top 40. Texas Regional, Classic Country, Americana, and Folk with Traditional Music at the top my list. Give me a sad Irish ballad, a toe tapping Celtic dance tune or a rousing sea shanty and I will be your best friend. I am a big fan of Canadian Maritime music....Great Big Sea, Lennie Gallant, Ron Hynes, Rankins, Ennis Sisters, Celtic Connection, and many many more.

Movies:

Don't watch movies much. I do like old movies...anything with Cary Grant. Arsenic and Old Lace is hysterical!!

Television:

I am a life long viewer of As The World Turns and The Guiding Light and can give you back story on most of the characters of both shows. I miss Northern Exposure and yes, I admit it...The Waltons. When not watching my soaps, my tv is set to HGTV or those TLC shows where people have an insane number of children. I watch Antiques Roadshow when I remember. I sit on the edge of my chair during American Idol, but have never voted. I am still pissed that Joan of Arcadia was cancelled.

Books:

Howard Norman, THE BIRD ARTIST is brilliant! Agatha Christie gets a bit predictable, but makes a nice escape. Wayne Johnston, terrific mood and imagery!! Sarah Bird, love her sense of humor and her YOKOTA OFFICERS CLUB is like an owner's manual for myself. Tony Hillerman, Rudolfo Anaya, Conrad Richter......so many others.

Heroes:

Ordinary people faced with extraordinary events.
