We aspire to form the first local Humane Society in Malaysia. The project and the making of it has already begun actively. We have also combined our efforts with some rare and precious individuals to support the first Furry Friends Farm in this country. The Furry Friends Farm is a sanctuary for many homeless, abused and rescued animals to be rehabilitated and rehomed. You can view the photos of this farm, and join in the discussions if you wish at this link:

"If anything separates us from nonhuman animals, it is our capacity for not only making humane choices to our own species alone, but to all other known & unknown species as well, may they be intellectually advanced or not, human or nonhuman. By choosing to respect the lives of other sentient beings, by refraining from abuse, cruelty and consuming them, WE are demonstrating OUR HIGHER STANDING in NATURE by those VALUES of HUMANITY. Thus, the practice of humane living is not only a healthy choice, it is also a humane choice that sets us apart from others in the animal kingdom whose diets and choices are based on necessity and instinct rather than on conscious humane choice." ~ Nick Josh K. Karean
"Love animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness, don't work against God's intent. Man, do not pride yourself on superiority to animals; they are without sin, and you, with your greatness, defile the earth by your appearance on it, and leave the traces of your foulness after you - alas, it is true of almost every one of us!" ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881)
"Over thousands of years, our unique type of intelligence, lead us to become the most powerful in the animal kingdom. Many cultures translated this power into control over other species. And our ability to capture and confine animals symbolized our domination. But perhaps our current understanding now compels us to re-think our relationship with animals." ~ From Animal Showboat to Animal Lifeboat
"Little by little, we began to question the inhumane practices of many forms of animal entertainment. Today, we are becoming intelligent and concern observers, understanding that we have a responsibility to treat all animals humanely." ~ From Animal Showboat to Animal Lifeboat
"Sometimes we save one animal at a time, even an animal that isn't exotic, genetically important, physically perfect or young and beautiful, still deserves our concern and compassion." ~ From Animal Showboat to Animal Lifeboat
"Most people don't think frogs and toads are cute or very charismatic but saving animals isn't a beauty contest." ~ From Animal Showboat to Animal Lifeboat
"Each time we walk out of our front door, we are in another animals home. We need to pause, imagining the world through their eyes, their ears and their noses. And we need to walk softly, taking care in not to crush our shared earth with each and every step. Being compassionate isn't scientific, but it is our responsibility and opportunity to make the earth a more humane place, for all creatures, great and small." ~ From Animal Showboat to Animal Lifeboat
"The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans anymore than black people were made for white or women created for men." ~ Alice Walker"If we cut up beasts simply because they cannot prevent us and because we are backing our own side in the struggle for existence, it is only logical to cut up imbeciles, criminals, enemies, or capitalists for the same reasons." ~ C. S. Lewis"People often say that humans have always eaten animals, as if this is a justification for continuing the practice. According to this logic, we should not try to prevent people from murdering other people, since this has also been done since the earliest of times." ~ Sir Isaac Bashevis Singer (1904-1991)"As to the argument that nature in the raw is cruel, of course it is! Animals can indeed be cruel to one another. But we are supposed to be something more than they! Dickensian compassion rescued children from sweat shops. Lincolnian empathy rescued slaves from being 'things.' Civilization weeps while it awaits one more emancipation." ~ Paul Harvey"Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages." ~ Thomas Alva EdisonIf you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men. ~ St Francis of Assissi"For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love." ~ Pythagoras
"As long as people will shed the blood of innocent creatures there can be no peace, no liberty, no harmony between people. Slaughter and justice cannot dwell together." ~ Sir Isaac Bashevis Singer"But if you have no relationship with the living things on this earth, you may lose whatever relationship you have with humanity." ~ Krishnamurti"For too long we have occupied ourselves with responding to the consequences of cruelty and abuse and have neglected the important task of building up an ethical system in which justice for animals is regarded as the norm rather than the exception. Our only hope is to put our focus on the education of the young." ~ John Hoyt (1932- )"For as long as humans have domesticated animals and have articulated a social consensus ethic, it has included an ethic for the treatment of animals, albeit a very limited one. That traditional ethic has been an ethic forbidding cruelty to animals, that is, deliberate, sadistic, useless, unnecessary infliction of pain, suffering, and neglect on animals." ~ Bernard E. Rollin, Professor of Philosophy and Professor of Physiology and Biophysics at Colorado State University, in his book Farm Animal Welfare: Social, Bioethical, and Research Issues"It is strange to hear people talk of Humanitarianism, who are members of societies for the prevention of cruelty to children and animals, and who claim to be God-loving men and women, but who, nevertheless, encourage by their patronage the killing of animals merely to gratify the cravings of appetite." ~ Otoman Zar-Adusht Ha'nish (1844-1936)"A society that chooses to treat the most defenseless living beings with grotesque cruelty, rationalizing the barbarity by dismissing the victims as 'not like us' and their suffering as 'in our interests,' is a society that has lost the very moral fiber that it champions as supposed 'proof' of its own greatness. Especially when the cruel mistreatment is unnecessary for achievement of its alleged goals." ~ Paul E."... As a so-called "civilized" people, and as members of a society in search of lasting peace in the world, we cannot remain callous to our responsibility toward nature and insensitive to the inherent rights of the animals." ~ Nathaniel Altman (1948- )"Human liberation will begin when we understand that our evolution and fulfillment are contingent on the recognition of animal rights and on a compassionate and responsible stewardship of nature." ~ Dr. Michael W. Fox"Humans who enslave, castrate, experiment on and fillet other animals, have had an understandable penchant for pretending animals do not feel pain. A sharp distinction between humans and 'animals' is essential if we are to bend them to our will, wear them, eat them without any disquieting tinges of guilt or regret. It is unseemly of us, who often behave so unfeelingly toward other animals, to contend that only humans can suffer. The behavior of other animals renders such pretensions specious. They are just too much like us." ~ Dr. Carl Sagan & Dr. Ann Druyan, in their book Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr."Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or an animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way...""Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." ~ Mahatma Gandhi"It is a man's sympathy with all creatures that truly makes him a man. Until he extends his circle of compassion to all living things, man himself will not find peace." ~ Albert Schweitzer"I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesnt. ... The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further." ~ Mark Twain"Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are like us.' Ask the experimenters why it is morally OK to experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are not like us.' Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction." ~ Professor Charles R. Magel"We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the devil in human form" ~ William Ralph Inage"I dream of a world where animals are viewed as sentient and sensitive people, whose rights to be free from human-enforced suffering are respected and where our only relations with animals are motivated by the wish to love and help them. At the same time, I want to see a society that respects other humans much more, too, and our IQ variants, sex and sexuality. We also need to change the education system, so we are not churning out robotic, fact-and figure-filled automata, but feelingful, caring, creative and truly human beings, in touch with what the Buddha calls our innermost Buddha - Mind of Wisdom and Compassion." ~ Dr. Tony Page
"Death is not the greatest loss in life... The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live...""You are not handling a lump of plastic. You are handling animals with central nervous systems that feel pain and suffering." ~ Janice Swanson, animal behavior specialist at Kansas State University, addressing a United Egg Producers meeting"Animals are sentient beings with an intrinsic worth." ~ Margareta Winberg, Swedish Agricultural Minister, speaking to an EU conference focusing on humane treatment of animals in Europe"Killing an animal is not the same thing as mowing the grass. A life ends. That's something you take seriously. What does the word 'sacred' mean? You do not treat it as an ordinary thing. Killing cattle is not the same as running grain through a mill." ~ Temple Grandin, Ph. D., Assistant Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University"Recent research has revealed that birds are capable of complex cognition . . . it is now clear that birds have cognitive capacities equivalent to those of mammals, even primates . . . it should be realized that even vastly improved intensive systems are unlikely to meet the cognitive demands of the hitherto underestimated chicken brain. . . . With the increased knowledge of the behaviour and cognitive abilities of the chicken has come the realization that the chicken is not an inferior species to be treated merely as a food source." ~ Lesley Rogers, Ph. D., Professor of Physiology, University of New England, in her book The Development of Brain and Behavior in the Chicken"That's one sad, unhappy, upset cow. She wants her baby. Bellowing for it, hunting for it. It's like grieving, mourning not much written about it. People don't like to allow them thoughts or feelings." ~ Temple Grandin, Ph. D., Assistant Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University, referring to a reaction of a mother cow when her calf was taken from her, as quoted in Oliver W. Sacks's An Anthropologist on Mars"The very fact that companion animals are so highly regarded raises difficult issues for agricultural and performance animal doctors. Some of these animals are not markedly different in their mental capacities from many companion animals. At a time the profession seeks to promote companion animals as members of the family, to what extent must it also advocate the interests of its food, farm, and performance animal patients?. . . Nevertheless, discussions devoid of attention to animal interests are appearing with frequency in the literature espousing the model of the veterinarian as herd health consultant." ~ Jerrold Tannenbaum, M.A., J.D., Associate Professor of Environmental Studies, Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, in his book Veterinary Ethics: Animal Welfare, Client Relations, Competition and Collegiality"There is much evidence showing that animals have sophisticated systems for regulating their lives and that they are much disturbed if they cannot control certain aspects of what happens to them. There is also good evidence for elaborate systems for detecting and responding to painful stimuli." ~ A. F. Fraser, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and D. M. Broom, Professor of Animal Welfare at Cambridge, in their book Farm Animal Behavior and Welfare"You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson"Shame on such a morality that fails to recognize the eternal essence that exists in every living thing, and shines forth with inscrutable significance from all eyes that see the sun." ~ Arthur SchopenhauerCare2 Make the World Greener!
