Influences: From Atlanta Journal Constitution:
You can play Spot the Influences all night with the Silent Kids latest album, the self-released "Tomorrow Waits" --- the breathy vocals and fuzzy guitars of '70s indie-poppers the Shoes, the melancholy melodicism of Big Star, the retro synth squiggles of Stereolab, the grimy chug of the Velvet Underground, a sprinkling of various new wavers. None of that sticks around for very long before the Atlanta band moves on to something else, all the while maintaining a surprisingly solid sense of its own identity. Despite the list above, this isn't power-pop or new wave and it doesn't sound particularly nostalgic. Silent Kids creates a distinctive blend from what must surely be an impressive record collection. The band just recently signed with increasingly cool local indie label Two Sheds, which will re-issue "Tomorrow Waits."
