Marys Carnival, in name, has been around since 2004 but not much focus was put into the project right away. Since 2002 I usually hopped around from band to band as a drummer but then realized that if I was going to find a band I really liked that I would have to do more than just percussion.
In 2006 I decided to pick up the guitar and try writing some more. I knew singing wasn't going to be easy. My range was limited and my tone was horrible but I was inspired by bad music on the radio oddly enough. My logic was, if bad musicians can make it to radio then I can front a band.
It's now two years later and we now have about 13 songs. None professionally recorded or even played together with a full line up but it's something. Close friends have helped me write and put together a few songs but the band line up is not one of my concerns at this time. My biggest priority is finishing my studies in recording techniques and music theory so that I can improve my writing and the quality of our recordings.
In our blog section I will be posting details about how a specific song was written and/or recorded. I am in the amateur stage of recording and writing so the samples I provide will most likely sound poor but this is all a learning process.
Most importantly this is suppose to be fun so hopefully if I ever get this project on stage I suggest you come see the show.
