Overview
Red Patch Boys is the nickname of the Toronto Football Supporters Union, an unofficial fan-based organization which advocates and promotes the Toronto Football Club. The group is active in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and maintains a strong web presence for Toronto Football Club fans abroad.The Name
The name is derived as a homage to the 1st Canadian Infantry Division which was raised in Toronto at the outbreak of World War II and saw action in Europe fighting both Italian and German armies. In combat, soldiers of the Division were referred to as the "Red Patch Devils" by enemy troops in recognition of the maroon rectangular unit badge with inset gold maple leaf worn on their uniforms.The Group
As a football supporters group, the main function of the organization is to promote the Toronto Football Club and other football events throughout the country. Current activities include the organization of group seating at Toronto FC home games, social meetings at various GTA establishments, and maintaining an .. discussion board to exchange opinions and information about Toronto FC.At the moment, the organization is planning for the upcoming 2007 MLS season and will be holding a meeting in late March in Toronto, details to follow.
